How easy is it to remove the panel where the lights switches are ?
Something has broken in mine and when I press the button for the main lights nothing happens, there's no click like there is when you press the other switches.
I only found this out yesterday when I stopped at a petrol station and couldn't turn my lights off. When I got back home, after some furious pressing, it did eventually click and turn them off. I can't turn them back on now though.
I want to see if this is going to be something I can fix myself with some super glue and a hammer before I take it to a garage and get the professionals to fix it for me. Also, the bulb for the sidelight switch has gone so I want to replace that whilst I have the panel off.
Please note that when it comes to things like this I'm a bit of an idiot so if it is really easy step by step instructions, pictures and your mobile number so I can call for assistance would be greatly appreciated.

peel off the silver surround
then you will have the whole light unit four clips round the edges hold this in
press in towards the switches, use the light switches themselves to gently pull the light unit free of the body
You now need to reach behind and pull out the plugs from the switches.
simple as that photos really not needed.
headlight and side light switches are Vectra B air con light switches look on ebay. then is a simple lift off the air con cover to replace with the switch style your used to.

That's perfect, thank you.
I'll have a go at doing that tonight.

Even I've managed to do this a couple of times so it must be easy! When you take the facias off the switches watch out for two tiny (and I mean tiny) little springs that will make a break for freedom. Its probably these that are causing you your problems anyway.
Good luck Duncan and god speed!

Ha ha, thanks.Good luck Duncan and god speed!
I'm happy to report that this is as easy as people have described and I can confirm that the switch is definitely fcuked.
I've swapped the switch bit over from the side lights to the headlights so I can at least drive in the dark now. Time to start trawling ebay me thinks.

Find the little hole in the switch and insert some WD40 job done 99 times out of 100.

This is the switch that'll work if you want to replace.
