Did anyone see that on top gear? Modified GTA from 3.2 up to 3.8 328bhp thru the front wheels and although it understeered like nobodys business it beat the VXT time round the top gear track (and the impreza sti) I love Alfa's I just wish they'd get back to RWD

Top episode of TopGear! Very funny! Not best pleased that the alfa performed soooooo well though! I think Auto Delta did the mods. I think we need to start an email campaign for them to test the VXR when it arrives!

Was the VXT driven by old Stig or new Stig? That could account for the difference otherwise...

Old I'm sure... Yeah I'm sure it was the old. The new one seems WAY faster. I can't believe the same driver in that Alfa would be slower in a STI and a VTX.

Looked to be a very fast car. Would be very interesting to see just how well it coped against a VX/VXT/Elise etc on the UK's roads or on a track like the 'Ring.

IIRC the VXT was on a wet (or damp) track though. I think I read a review of that crazy 147 in Evo a couple of months back. Can't remember the reason but for some reason they didn't rate it highly.

.....just to get back on topic... I definitely think the new Stig is better than the last..... anyone have any idea who these anonymous drivers are? Must be some informationm on the web.... Why haven't Top Gear run the New Stig in a car that the old Stig drove?? Seems obvious really... Is the new Exige (111R) really 5 secs faster than the VXT (can't remember exact times, but that was roughly the time difference) nice Avatar AndyM..... :D Mike

1) Old Stig was Perry McCarthy See "Something about old Stig"

2) New Stig is ????

New Stig definately faster than old Stig IMHO.

I'm Suspicious that the track may be slightly different too - have you noticed how much faster the Celeb in the Reasonably priced car is now? Could be the cars run in, could be the new Stig's better at training them? But could be the track's been tweeked???

Paul

I just found it hard to believe that the same driver in that understeering Alfa would be slower in a STi or VXT.

I think we had a thread about who new Stig was.... Thorney knows iirc it's Ben Collins....
