question time, because I can't remember, why was the VX/elise chassis glued again and not aluminium welded?

Welding too hot for the aluminium and causes distortion/affects strength? I think.

28.25 on the video. I had never seen this until the other day and it comes in two parts.

Got it from the SELOC wiki

Most important, the aluminium extruded sections can be made much thinner than traditional welding technique. Why ? because welded joints are weak, so the thickness of material should be increased throughout a member just to make a joint strong enough. Therefore Elise's chassis could be lighter yet stiffer.

So weight then...

The arguments against the strength of welds and that the elise chassis is "stiffer" than a heavier welded chassis I'd say were wide open for debate though...
