I am taking to a contact from my racing days about making up driveshafts for the M32
It would be good to hear from anyone that would be interested.
I've been quoted £200 each as a one off and can get a bit cheaper for a batch.
These are motorsport quality from someone I trust.

What material would he be using? I tend to use S155 grade for driveshafts to allow some flex on custom shafts and never had a problem - snapped a few other more std versions over the years

Would not be that hard to get the different ends mated on the cheap but as you know extra work for the 1st one

Hi Duncan
He did mention the steel but I must admit I've forgotten.
But I can find out again. They are heat treated.
He has quite a lot of experience making Elise shafts
and mentioned that the outers often seem to be what Lotus had lying around, as some use Astra 1600 and some 2 litre outers.
So he does have outer joints made to take the beefier 2 litre shaft on an Elise that originally had 1600 outers.
And for K series S1's that run even smaller outers.
The price is for just the bare shafts though.
Do you know if the VX uses 2 litre outers?
Cheers Doug

Would have to look into it tbh but sure they are the same as the astra / vectra etc etc - GM would not go and make specific ones for the sake of it :)

Someone like Steve (siztenboots) would know off the top of his head :)

DG

Cheers

I know they are a standard GM joint, but need to establish which.
So it'll be good if siztenboots can confirm one way or another.
I also could do with borrowing a pair of Europa shafts as patterns.

They are only about 450 from lotus, don't see the point in getting them made elsewhere. Happy to plug Lotus for a better price on quantity if there are people interested.

Chris is that for a pair? If so kind of no brainer I guess - never had any problems with the std shafts on mine and they got abused :) DG

I'm not 100% certain about interchangeability, but am sure M32 on Corsa VXR is the same

pass side

£40 each, or make him an offer

astra vxr and astra cdti 150 use bigger hubs than the other astra H models, so have different splines on the outer cv's

the astra H z20lel, z20ler and cdti 120 models use the same sized hubs/cv splines as the astra G and vx220

its also 'possible' that the F23 inners fit the M32...... there is more than enough plunge in the CV to take the 10mm move.

I was recently given these prices for the Lotus europa driveshafts: A124D0007F £221.49 normal trade £198.00 my deal £160.00 + vat A124D0006F £227.48 normal trade £205.00 my deal £165.00 + vat I thought about a group buy but my success with GB's has been rather poor.

That's not bad at all!
Have you got a price for the shaft across the back of the engine?

Just phone Christopher Neils and speak to Paul McStein on the lotus parts desk. He's a parts legend! I think he can get the gearbox mount for around 30 quid too. Tell him Matt Grist sent you.

Cheers Matt
I might as well try to sort the mount at the same time thumbsup
I've spoken to Paul before, he was very helpful, re the ABS if I remember correctly.
