Hallo to all of you! I am thinking of joining you with a vx220. I would like to buy one from England but in my country they are LHD. I dont mind, making the conversion myself, as a matter of fact i'll strip out the car and build it again (with some very little mods... lol!). The other issue is that here are registered as opel speedsters and i dont know what happens with vauxhalls. I have some questions though. Can be converted? RHD->LHD What about the bolts of the seats. Passengers seat is stable. i found one with 100000+ km (about 60000mls). I only care about the chassis condition. Everything else can be repaired.. (or replased). The body is easy to see its condition. Those are my current conserns. I would be happy if you cound help me! Thank you very much! (sorry for the bad english)

Thank you! I'm going for an n/a (they are cheaper) i'm checking various sites and they are two of them! As i am going to do extended mods, i care only about chassis, body, some electrics and lighting. It would be great though if its already drivable. I would drive it all the way from England! (love big trips through europe) Does the chassis suffer from any distortions when the mileage is high? what should i check? i ve heard that some elise's had a problem with the steel front wishbones. something about steel and alloy corossion, i'm not, exactly, sure... do i need to check something there?

No mileage doesnt affect the chassis, Don't be put off by all accident damaged cars (Listed as Cat C and D) as these are very common in the UK due to the cost of reparing them, Its worth checking them out also as most will have been repaired to a high standard. If your looking at 2.2's they are chain driven so ideally if this has been changed its gonna save you the hassle, if they snap its big money usually. Most of the things to look for on a VX probably won't affect your options, the roofs leak, the headlights mist up, the heaters are terrible etc etc all little niggles that can be sorted. Mecahnically your just looking at the usuals you would on any car really. Theres plenty of helpfull members on here who can usually advise on particular cars, between us we know most VX's as they are usually past members cars :)

Just wondering.....What actually happened when the Speedsters were made - were they built by Lotus, alongside the VX, at the same time?

If they don't want your business, it's their bad, not yours.
Any other opel dealer that's familiar with the speedster/vx220 should be able to help.
If that does not work out, bring it to lotus for maintenance. (over here in NL a lot of owners bring it to lotus)
There's also 3rd party specialist that support speedster/vx220's, so worth to look around.
