I know almost half of you lot have probably lost the little arc shape plastic piece that sits above the exhaust, and its a nightmare of a job as the rear clam has to come off to fit a new piece the correct way. I know a member has chopped a new piece of mesh and bonded it on from the front but i thought this idea might be helpfull :)

-Piece of rubber tubing (washer jet pipe i used, bought from the likes of halfords, motor world etc. i paid 98p)

-Araldite high temp bonding glue (comes in two parts, a red tube and a white tube, one acts as a catalyst)

cut the pipe to size, add a slice down the pipe to open it out a little. A little araldite on the inside and push the piping into place over the mesh. Jobs a good un.

Being rubber i thought it may come off with the heat, and without the araldite it did first time around, but this piece has been on for a few hundreds miles now and has withstood the heat. It cost me £7 in total and took 5 minutes chinky chinky

I have a strip of safety edging which has been on for years without glue. The same as you have done but with a square edge.

Looks good. I might do that instead of trying to get the original thing to stick back on.

'Liquid Metal'.... either use it to reattach your existing shield or as it's a sort of putty you can mould your own new one...

Much more OE looking and it actually does the job of resisting heat. thumbsup

Not the best pic - but you get the idea.

I ran around for the first 2 years of my ownership with a length of black silicone hose in place of the heatshield. Replaced the grille a couple of years ago when the rear clam came off and even though I strengthened the welds on the replacement it's taken a beating (might be something to do with the 8 exhaust changes it's had) and is only just hanging on.

I have a piece of rubber edging material on mine, no glue required. No detriment to losing the chunk of metal. Paul

Nice number plate to mbes ;) I actually prefer the piping/tubing to the oe look, it sits a lot flusher. The little over hang cant stop that much heat anyway.

The oe version just stops your number plate from melting, I like the piping look though Although will be strengthening mine on as I prefer it :)
