i know, but here in greece displacement costs a lot in taxes, nothing more. i dont care that i ll have less power only that i will drive this little peace of heaven without worring... a lotus actually is way cheaper in taxes. an rx7/8 is steal. they categorize the cars by displsmnt. stupid but thats it...

2ltr turbo should be cheaper then :D and quicker :P You can put almost any engine you want in but as for what will bolt straight in and work on the oe ecu setup not as sure on the n/a side of things without any real cost or time DG

Would changing the crank to the Saab B207 one not reduce the capacity below two liters? Not sure if the trigger wheel is the same though.

Imagine de-stroking the engine is going to take some kind of proof and also there is going to be some work again to get it working correctly DG

They would probably say the engine number is a 2.2 therefore it's a 2.2 pay up

In that case going turbo is probably best, or maybe a Redtop XE?

b207 has a different trigger wheel so would need external trigger wheel and crank sensor i have a crank rods and pistons if you wanted to do this ;)

if you use the matching F23 gearbox then you can fit a 1.8 engine

Yes, it IS cheaper! As you can see i am looking for something straight bolt in (well, the most that it can be)

Thats what i thought. i didnt know about any specific crank (thanks!) but i think that this is the best way to go.

i think that they can measure it at our "SVA". I 'll ask.

As a matter of interest how much extra will it cost you per year? Is the annual saving not going to be offset by the cost of modification and paying 'modified' insurance premiums?

I've just checked, the 1.8 doesn't use the F23 in any model, so the driveshafts are going to need changing too. the driveshaft outer cv's are the same as the astra G, so use the engine, gearbox and driveshafts from a 1.8 astra G, the mounts will need modifying, but thats all part of the fun of doing engine swaps :P

well, about 1500e. with a 1.8 is less than half, but that is not the issue. The inland revenu will probably tax me more on the income so i ll have to pay more. a lot more. if i can, somehow, escape (legally of course) that, i wont do this useless swap. Our insurances dont care about modifications as long as the right displacement is on the registration. I can make it 1000hp and i will pay the same.
The thing is that the engine is quite nice. i dont want to take it out. It has:

BILAS program and induction (i think thats the word..?..)
racing air filter
stainless steel exhaust and HJS catalyst.
EGR valve
VX performance short shift with new wires
PROFLEX engine mounts.

These about the engine. its about 170hp more or less.

Sorry for the bad English..
