Trying to order a new Meta key fob but I'm having trouble tracking down the security code. I have the red key card, however it doesn't have the 16 digit code on it! All it has is the mechanical key number (letter, then 4 numbers) where the code should be. Vauxhall don't have a clue, they can't order a replacement either and they don't know how to obtain the code, can anybody help? What's the point in giving you the card if there's no bl##dy code on it!!

It has been a few weeks since I refitted the alarm in my car, but I'm fairly sure the alarm ecu also has the code on the red label on the front of the box. If you take the dash panel off you should be able to see it through the hole to the left of the stereo, save the hassle of removing the dashtop. Also, contact Abacus direct (META alarm supplier/importer) as I think you'll have better luck than trying to go through Vauxhall, then Opel, then Lotus, then the supplier. www.abacuscaralarms.co.uk Will be interested to hear how you get on as I only have 1 alarm fob too.

:yeahthat: please please let me know of the outcome... I will replace the lot if necessary, but would rather be able to program in a new key rather than risk snapping the starter button cable.

I trawled thru various unhelpful people at the Vaux customer services the other week. They finally worked out that you can get the code from "Vauxhall Data Services" BUT only via a vaux dealership (not direct). They charge £35 for the privilige. Hence, code suppied from Vauxhall (£35) + spare keyfob from Abacus (£35) = £70. Since I've got the "false alarm" doorchime prob, I've gone for a whole new alarm from Abacus for an extra £30...

Cheers guys! Yeah, that's the red key card, except the sticker is blank where the code should be, then there is another smaller sticker over that with the mechanical key number. I'll try and prise off the dash panel and if not I'll phone Vauxhall again; what a bunch of c**ts charging me for the info, why not supply a card with the number on it in the first place!! Did everybody else's card have the correct bar/security code on it?

I got a duplicate card from the dealer. Took in my passport and V5 and it was there in a couple of weeks. Try a different dealer!

Hmmm, dealer had heard of 'Vauxhall Data Services' so I'm not holding my breath on that one. Took the front dash plate off; you can see the control unit and it has a barcode and number but its only 13 digits long. Also has the 116 Lotus part number, is it worth contacting them? Or will they just laugh and hang up on me?!

That will definitely confuse them at Vauxhall.

Do you mean the meta card or the Security Pass?
