Here is a thread to put together the brief research I have done into the range of VX220 opel speedster diecast models available. I have found the models by using google images and read the information about the cars on the various websites I visited.

This is not an exhaustive list, so please add any more that I have missed.
I also ask you to correct anything I may have inadvertently got wrong etc.
Forgive the multiple posts, as the pictures are over the limit for a single post.

This is no doubt the largest category of diecast models for the VX220 Opel Speedster.
I’m sure I’m probably missing some too, so please let me know.
They are all 1:55 scale.
There’s a good link here: http://matchbox.wiki.../Opel_Speedster

Wow!! some good research there, wonder what they've all got against VX220s - seems the "Speedster" name was favoured. Only one with a hardtop as well

None of them are wholly accurate but there are quite a few which seem to have the windscreen too upright. I wonder if one manufacturer did it and the others copied. I remember reading an article once where a model manufacturer was saying how they took the original blueprints but have to exaggerate details to make them seem more realistic, apparently an exact scale model makes an amorphous blob out of most cars designs.

Ooops, that Carson site isn't wholly suitable for work. More than one kind of model flashing up on the screen :o

Bless! Its only the carson promo-girl, fully clothed peeps thumbsup
(unless you found a random link i don't know about...)

Its only the RC cars i've found that have the hardtops i think.

Edit: I should add that i'm not normally this nerdy, but have been stuck off work for over 3 weeks with a broken ankle from snowboarding, so i have not really had much else to do apart from trawl the internet and suffer through daytime TV

What made you do all that?

1) boredom - see my last post re: broken ankle
2) due to boredom, i decided to buy a model of each car i've owned over the years. It was easy to find some car models, but at first it took me ages to find vx ones. Hence the list i compiled.
3) maybe i'm a bit OCD

I had actually considered doing that too. Have you got them all now? How many?

I was ideally hoping to get a model of each car in the same scale, so I didn't do it, as it meant finding a Silver VX in 1:43 (I think it was 1:43...) which I couldn't find.

I have the 1:18 scale VX, but couldn't find my 'old' cars as large as 1:18 scale. ;)

The Maisto 1:18 Mandarin NA model seems to be the one that most people have, or that you see for sale most often. Which probably means, there are actually more Mandarin models in the world than there are actual Mandarin cars!

I have only got a few models so far in the few weeks i have been off. Am waiting for my police speedster to arrive, and also a matchbox of my first ever car: an old triumph acclaim - a complete shed of a granny car, but an ace twin cam 16v 1.3 engine IIRC. felt pretty nippy at the time for £200 LOL
I need a scirocco scala model in red if anyone can find one.
Am bidding on another car at the mo on the 'bay
In VX's i have the Maisto 1:18 mandarin (to match mine) and also a yellow machbox one, and an orange german boxed matchbox one.

This is something I've wanted to do for a while now, out of 29 cars and 2 bikes I've managed to build up a collection of one (an M3 - and that's the wrong colour). Although I have got a nice Jordan 191 F1 model and part of a real one with the same sponsor's livery so that's some minor acheivement.
