Are you running an external crank sensor? I am, and I had initial misfire issues. One of the things I changed was the crank sensor (so no idea if it was that), but I also added a small washer to space the sensor back from the mounting position, as the original was marked with the new timing wheel. Works fine now.

   

Your issues sound similar to when my crank sensor plays up.

  Thanks both, seems like the crank sensor was worth changing. I didn't see any marking of the sensor from the external crank trigger wheel, but read a lot about crank sensors (particularly GM ones) developing faults when hot. Fingers crossed I won't have to worry about this again.

I thought NA/SC didn't have crank sensor and used compression sensing something or other? Is this a Saab block thing? Sent from my SM-G920F using Tapatalk

Cam position can be resolved from crank sensor (assumption is that the engine is timed correctly), only start to need a cam sensor with VVT (but that too can be mapped against crank position and throttle position).

Correct. The Z22SE coil pack generates the cam position sensor signal back to the ECU  from the compression/ignition sense logic built into it.

 

It has no actual cam sensor on the engine, but the ECU can still complain about not getting a cam signal ;) (usually a coil pack going bad..)
