My new insurance policy dropped through the letterbox today. Suprised it didn't crack a fekin tile as it's a pretty hefty quote :( I've got points, a modded car and I do trackdays. Who should I go to...? I know it's been covered but I'd like a chat of what is about right now!

Mine was way way cheaper with Egger than it was with Heritage. Huge list of approved TDO's and approved tracks. Proper NCB unlike Heritage who don't give you any. Totally understand modifications and have a very easy attitude to them. Like <250bhp or >250bhp. They do a SELOC and/or LOT discount and will also give you a further discount if you've done a proper driver training day (not a mickey mouse activity day). Speak to Mary or Steve. Thoroughly nice people and are apparently much better if it ever comes time to claim than CCI are now.

Not sure if this is any use, but here is a list of companies various members have recommended on the forum : AON http://www.specialistcars.aon.co.uk/ Chris Knott Adrian Flux 08000 83 88 33 Competition Car Insurance (CCI) 0115 941 5255 Haggerty via Henderson Taylor Insurance 0161 437 7442 HIC https://www.hertsinsurance.com/ Henderson Taylor on 0161 437 7442 (ask for Matthew) http://www.henderson...ntaylor.co.uk/" Heritage http://www.heritage-quote.co.uk A-Plan http://www.aplan.co....quote.php?int=0 Admiral http://www.admiral.com Richard Egger 0115 985 0165 Classic Line I'm actually with Admiral, although they don't do track days. I figured if I do do track days, then I'd just buy the insurance for the day.

Heritage do cover track days - as long as they are an organised club day e.g. LoT or VX220.org.uk They were really good for me a year before last (stage 4 everything modded) and then tried to put it up by £200 but after a few phone calls they put it to less than the previous year. About £500 ish i think. Yes I'm old but my wife had just written the previous VX off so no claims was down to 3 years only. They used to cover track days in europe too but I think thier policy on that may have changed.

or dont bother since it always goes knock for knock and you get robbed of an insane excess in the event of a claim....
just my opinion/thoughts.

Although I guess paying a few K for a 'new' vx isnt always the end of the world

I'm currently with Admiral on an all but standard tubby and it's a decent price but I expect it won't be competitive once I begin fitting some higher power mods in the next few months so I guess i'll be giving some of these places a ring once my policy is up for renewal (end of oct). Any of the aforementioned companies offer youngsters (i'll be 24 then) a good deal on modded VXT's (stage 2.5)?

CCI are pretty good with points/fines as well, I think it's 3 fines or something like that before it affects your premium.

I've been driving since I was 17 (originally from Oz) but I had to set sit my UK learners and provisional license this year and haven't owned a car for 4 years now. Every insurance company considered me as having a license for less than 1 year and wanted nothing to do with me unless I was prepared to spend anywhere from £1.5-2K for a standard NA and one with mods I could forget about it.
I explained my situation with Chris (and yes being over 30 helps I reckon!) and came up with fantastic quote. 2 of my mates have now gone to CCI because they came well under anything else the others could do.

Another option for those who have the VX as a second car that gets used occasionally and/or as a trackday toy is to get a limited mile policy (say 3000 miles P/A) and then insure the car for each trackday through someone like Egger.

Cheers for the list Bob, will have to have a go through these today. Looks like I'm being penalized for not lying about my details and having 10 years no claims and no points on my licence. Time to shop around
