This is a year old but what has happened since then??

A 2.4 litre Ecotec with variable timing has to be good news!

"For the new LE5 2.4 liter both cylinder bore and stroke are increased in relation to the original Ecotec 2.2 liter engine. The new engine's bore is 88 mm and stroke is 98 mm, versus the 2.2 liter's 86 mm bore and 94.6 mm stroke, yielding a total displacement of 2,384 cc versus the original 2.2 liter's 2,189 cc. Developed to enhance the low- and midrange torque output of the new engine, the new variable valve timing system uses electronically controlled hydraulic camshaft phasers to alter the relationship of the intake and exhaust camshafts as much as 50 degrees relative to the crankshaft. "

Probably the engine we SHOULD have gotten. Would be interesting to see if we could fit it in. It should fit...

Tnink so too. Some mild tuning and 200 hp is within reach. Or did they ditch this to release the 2.0 SC??

Heres a spec sheet. Seems it comes witha automatic transmission, but we should be able to keep our sweet F23:s?

I can't seem to find much about this. Shame, I bet it would zing in the VX.

The direct injection version of the 2.2 looks like a nice lump too. Presumably the same size as our original engines, just with more torque & power :)

Erm, hang on I'll see if I can find it... It was on a site that was linked on here. A GM site? I'll try some searches...

Ok, can't find the link I was on about on this site, but if you put 'ecotec 2.2 direct injection' into Google, you'll get some information. The site I was thinking of gave info on all GM Europe engines, so that might be some help in tracking it down...

Interesting...but I've always been jealous of the lesser engine capacity of the Elise! (awaits :flame: ) I have always wanted a lightweight, small capacity efficient engine, relatively exclusive car with decent styling. Basically the VX scores highly...but the 2.2 still niggles me a little :( ...but thats probably cos I used to run on a 650cc Turbo engine!

You better wait a couple of days for the new tuning kit with the Easton supercharger, using mostly original GM/Vauxhall parts. We expect it top be finished before the end of the year and it will deliver more than 230 HP with outstanding drivability. We are just starting to do the final modfifications and will have a test run in the next two weeks. #2177

How much does the engine cost? It should go right in being a GM 2.2 at a guess.

Its a kit based on the 2.0 SC parts, but implemented on the original 2.2 and with Eaton instead of Lysholm SC (AFAIK)
