What do yo want to know? My tuner has engineered a kit to change the 2.2L Ecotec into a 2.2L SC using the parts of the GM 2.0L SC engine, including the Eaton MP62 blower, metall intake, cooler, new electronis, gas pump, injection time and pressure modification, compression reductions, piston cooling etc. He has learned much from the history of 3rd party supercharger solutions as he has helped to fix many of their issues, e.a. for Ricky. The modified engine has been assembled, we are waiting for a few acc. and will have a test run in the next couple of days. Calculations as well as prior modifications forecast an impressive power range. As the used parts are original GM parts, that have been designed for the engine, you can imagine, how well the hardware fits to the 2.2L. I do have some pictures, which I was asked to not publish yet. As soon as I have test-run data and approval, I will publish. Although we will easily get close or meet the Gruber specs, it looks that the mod will be done at much lower cost, let a lone the drivability aspect of a blower compared to a turbo. Please give us a couple of more days. #2177

Are you using the standard con-rods or the stronger SAAB ones from the 2.0 SC? Do you have the piston-cooling oil-spray that the Delta-Motor conversion uses?

We are using the standard conrods, as we have checked with the developers of the 2.2L engine at GM and Lotus. The 2.2 and the 2.0SC have been dev. as general purpose engines for GM. They also have to serve for much havier vehicles. As you can image the challenge to pull a 2 ton car like a Zafira up the hill at 80mph with full throttle for 5 miles puts a much higher burdon on the hardware than anything we would expect at the VX220 level. Nevertheless our prototype uses additionally piston head oil cooling. #2177

Cheers #2177 I can't wait for full details when they're ready! Just a couple more questions... Where are you and your tuner based? How long do you think the conversion will take to install? I assume that you are not in the UK, are there any plans to allow UK based tuners to install the kit? Are any modifications required to the bodywork or boot to fit the s/c? I think I remember reading that the conrods were good to about 300bhp - is this correct? The following questions are probably best answered after your testing, but I'll ask now so that I don't forget! I understand that the gruber produces a claimed 240bhp (?) and that you're aiming for a similar figure ... any ideas on torque? (graph would be great once you have one!) Photos of the modded engine and installation (if it's not already in a car) would be great! Any idea of cost of kit / installation? (I understand that this probably won't be finalised until you are ready to sell, but an idea would be good!) AND FINALLY..... When do you think you will be ready to offer this package to us? Thanks! Rob PS - Whats your name? We can't keep calling you #2177 as it makes you sound like a borg!!!!! :o

@Robski: I am trying to give a couple of answers: My name is Alexander and I am Borg ;-) thumbsup The developing tuner is located in Germany and everybody, who had some experience with the Delta Kit knows him. The conversion will take less than a week including approvals like TÜV in Germany. Yes, they do have selected one of the best known UK tuners to install the kit. No modification of the bodywork is needed, as we are talking about basically GM parts, that perfectly fit to the engine mechanically. But be aware that besides the art of the electronic setup (only one company has the knowledge to to that )and the pulley - belt design there is trillion of small mods to be done to make this happen. And as I am the customer, I have to tell you that I am overwhelmed by the engineering and design accuracy, that I have seen during the last 5 months of realisation time. All technical questions have been answered by a solid, well engineered solutions and sometimes we had to do the extra step to get to THE solution. The pulley-belt geometry has been reengineered 4 times to not only get extraordinary performance and lifetime but to also guarantee for standard spares. I cannot recommend to think that anybody could do that in his garage, seems totally impossible to me. The conrods are good for 300BHP. Graph on torque will be available by end of next week and will be published here. Photos have been made and will also be published here. Kit price will be considerably lower than any other offer at the power level so far. Considerations are going on between UK tuner and German developer to allow for a consistent pricing. I would expect it to be in the range of 20% to 30% lower than competition. Orders will be taken before X-mas. Modifications will be implemented beginning of Jan. ready for the new season. #2177 (Alexander)
