Hey Gaffer, Plenty of jobs to keep you busy there! I'd aim to paint the bonnet hinge in situ, as once you disassemble, it can be a nightmare to realign and refitting the bolts to the clam is a nightmare (blind, touchy, feely guesswork in my case). Heated seat elements are a worthy upgrade and well worth the effort. I picked up a kit on eBay a few years ago. See the excellent how to guide by BossVX from a few years ago. Like your commitment.

Quite a few little annoying problems to fix there. Be wary of going too far though and spending all your time prettyfing it instead of driving it.

Thanks for the advice, I will try and get some hammer right Matt or something to stop it getting anymore rusty. I'll have a search for that guide when I get round to it.

Definitely, I'm still waiting for the import to go through so can't drive it at the moment. Thought I'd do the heater as I can't drive it with it out. Once that's done I normally drive my weekend car 3-4 times a week and hopefully one trackday a month one funds allow.

Haha, that was the original plan but this one had a big hole in it and still blew some pretty decent air, comparable to a fez actually so I thought I'd fix it up. To be honest it's the best heater in a VX220 I've found so far. Definitely not opening it again with all the glue I've used and the fact the plastic box is so brittle that installing rivets snaps bits of it.

I agree but the noise on the windscreen wiper was annoying and it ruined a perfectly good blade in one long journey. I remember my last VX220 with no sun visors on sunny winter days, painful.

Solved by shorter wiper... it would have been an MOT failure if the sunstrip was obscuring the swept area I believe. Wouldn't be without my sunstrip.

Does it really make that much difference if done on the inside? Never seen it so can't make a judgement but I can't imagine it being much different. Will look smooth on the outside.
