After emailing ITG, they replied to me;
Hi Craig,
Well we have heard this a few times from various different sources and
over the last 20 years of manufacturing and supplying air filters we have
not had a single case of proven damge to an AFM, it is strictly scare mongering
by people who spend a lot of time on forums and not driving cars!!! The
maxogen kit is the best on the market, it would be best to speak to those
people who actually use our kits on their cars. We supply around 30-40 lotus kits
per month and have not had a single complaint about the system.

P11COV had a BMC CDA carbon box on for ages with no problem - only took it off for warrenty work iirc
But isn't there something fundemantaly wrong in that?
People fitted vipers and the AMM's went
The foam filtered VXRs had AMM's go.
My understanding was that any sort of venturi effect induction kit would lead to AMM failure on the VXT's?
So if it doesn't give a better induction what is the point?
Certainly the ITG was sold as more induction/bhp by Blanchie was it?

if you do a search for davehutchingson and itg you will find lots of posts.
it seems like ITG where looking for a solution, where attending rolling roads, and where meeting with the amm manufacturer but then after that nothing else was said???????????
what happened?
Not been around for a long time since I sold my VXT. After losing 4 AMM's with the ITG kit, ITG replaced the AMM for me and took the box away, nothing was ever said about it again, I heard nothing from them at all and I'd pretty much guarantee the issue still exists, they had no answers for me at all, despite the length of time we spent researching it.
ITG brought a couple of panel filters with them to AMD when we did the RR tests on my car, fitted one to R1 NUR's and Mahony's VXT, if I remember rightly their AMM's went too, just not multiple times like mine did.

I think Paul has a BMC without any issues but Gavin and Neil both ran them and both had multiple failures, I know this as we've replaced about 4 on these cars alone!
Failures on the BMC or the ITG?
As has been said mine has run the BMC for a long time with no probs and I was led to believe the previous owner had no problems with it either...is that Gavin?
I took it off when I thought I had a problem but it turned out to be water ingress. I then took it off again when it was serviced as Crownhill will use any excuse to say your car has invalidated the warranty

I will probably put it back once it is out of warranty in a months time.

I actually refer people to your car when I talk the only person to have one and not cause failures. Both Gavin and Neil both have BMC's on their VXR's and both have failed AMM's. We've replaced 3 on on e car and 2 on the other thus far. Sounds like you've got lucky which is great, but not enough evidence for me to sell something only to be responsible for the warranty replacement if it goes wrong.

Thats interesting beacause, correct me if i'm wrong, but Gavin bought the BMC for him and Neil when they had moonland VXT's and had no probs but now they have them on thier VXR's they are having difficulties. Is it to do with the colour of the car?
