has anyone just handed in there notice because they have lost any passion for the job they are doing, and in doing so have done it without having any security or have planning for alternative work?

Not the same but I was made redundant 3 times in 18 months with my partner on maternity leave, its surprising just how well you can get by with feck all cash !

I'm a freelance Technician in Events. Last June I didn't renew my contract with a big client who 70% of my work came from.
It was very much the same work, didn't interest me anymore, wasn't happy etc etc. I decided to start my own business in Events, Sound & Lighting for Conferences, Wedding Venue Lighting, Production Management.
It's been the best thing I have done. I pay myself peanuts to put all the money back into the business for it to grow. I have eno...

....I have enough money to get by and have just been approved a mortgage to buy my first house.
Sometimes making that big step is the best thing you can do. I would say I'm pretty happy now, it's not been easy, hard in fact but what in life is.
