What have you gone for? I'm kind of in the same boat, my 2008 iMac 2.4GHz 2gb isn't exactly cutting edge anymore but i can't justify a new one at the moment.

yeah, mine is ok but it was just lagged a little when editing 1080p video.

I went for a Samsung SSD the 840 pro, and a adaptor that enables me to have 2 HD's in my macbook pro. then upgraded to 8GB's of RAM. it was only £40 from Crucial. dirt cheap. it also scans your computer and tells you exactly what you need.

ps just going to put all of my apps and the OS on the SSD so it's super quick and then keep my 1TB HDD for movies photos etc.
