Run out of heating oil - gauge says tank half empty - guess its only half right. 1000 litres coming Monday, heating engineer Tuesday. Burning coal to heat the house - it's the future!!

I panicked and thought I'd better check my heating oil on the vx, then realised you meant your house lol.

Does the dial drop with usage? Theft of the stuff has increased massively, someone might have pinched some without you realising.

Yes, the gauge dropped and then I think is blocked (displays the same content as the tank via a column of oil). Shows half full :(. Even after pressing the release button which should drop the level it stays where it is. Last lot lasted 3 months over the cold months so quite sure it ran out :(
