I dont understand how a stone from a car in front manages to smash a window tucked behind your head, I believe you just dont see how it happens. Why can you not drive it, or not drive it with the roof off? Tape it up the plastic cant go any where, then, most soft top cars dont have a rear window anyway. What would happen if a 'normal' car got its rear window smashed is that classed as windscreen cover?

Mine came just over the top right of the windscreen, whipped past my head and hit the rear. I'm guessing the low pressure in the cabin helps suck the stone down a bit as it comes over the screen.

I just put tape on the screen from the outside then carried on driving it. He doesnt want bits of glass coming loose and scratching his new paintwork. When the rear screen breaks the whole thing turns into a million tiny pieces that look like there just balanced in place.

And yes rear windscreens are covered on windscreen cover on all cars

Sorry to heat that Joey. Hopefully you can get it fixed. TBH I thought that they were all plastic, I know mine is. Must of been replaced some time ago. Um... no mention of it in my "history folder" Good luck with the repair.

That is so unlucky the chances of that happening must be 1 in a million :angry2:

Well, lucky enough it wasn't his head though?

Bad luck, happened on my Elise, but that was an easy one to fix, just roll bar cover off and slide the window out. Unfortunately mine fell apart and despite taking the seats out to clear the mess up, I spent the next couple of years finding small bits of glass. I bought myself some polycarb and bonded it onto the frame as I didn't fancy it happening again. Sorry to hear that it's a clam off job though :(

Just realised that this probably explains why i have got a couple of marks on my engine cover, always wandered why they look like stone chips. Found some glass when i removed my seats to fit my harness bar so i guess the last owner must of had the window smash. So its more common than you might think

Bad luck never thought of this happening when we are enjoying a roof off moment But look on the bright side at least it hit the glass If it had hit the hairy fleshy thing behind the wheel surely a stone at 70 mph would result in a hell of a headache ?

I just ordered some polycarb off the internet, had enough to make 2, sold one on ebay which made mine very cheap.

If our screens are the same as the S2. Not sure a BOT supplied mine. Then there is this one. Made of Lexon, Not sure what that is but lighter than glass.

We get given these and they are very similar. Having seen people get hit with IEDs and there being a perfect glasses mark on their faces where there is no injurys i would say they would stand up fine to a stone.

Think i read the bike ones are tested by fireing a 6mm ball bearing at them at 65 kph with no penetration. So yes may well save your eye.Use them on the bike, stopped a big bee at 35ish bit softer than a stone
