Haha I'm only messing guys I would love a gearbox like that but it would cost half the build of my car

500nm or 10 laps whatever comes quicker

or another way to look at it is that Jamie did not need all the session to post 1:34.894 and take the win (remind me again what the fastest VX time was?)

Er that would be me on a 1:41 only seven seconds and £80K behind Jamie.

Seriously impressed with the car though Scuffers and you are no slouch behind the wheel. I am sure Team VX would make you most welcome if you ever cared to share your opinions some time.

Yep, as always I'll be camping too. I think we should get more competition points for roughing it, especially at Knockhill !!!

Depending on who makes it, it can be considered as cheap
(but I guess that would be without the geartronics stuff, so 3 or 4k to be added)

I'm sure it's well worth the price :)

Looks a nice bit of kit - DSG with software added to S3 lump would be a cheaper option though :P. Granted even with software could not comment on how it would perform in a vx. Know it weighed a ton more than the 6 speed fitted and wiring hell to make work with no can-bus setup DG

I'm in the premier inn at knockhill Joe :tt:

Think mike was thinking about it aswell.

Dunfermline? Hotel's alright but it's on the edge of the leisure park, sharing the mass car park. Cinema, Bowling Alley, Nando's, KFC, McD's etc. It's a haven for lecherous cretins on a friday/saturday night. Not the place for Mike's car and trailer if he wants to sleep as I wouldn't doubt for a second that they would spot it.

Short jaunt to the Hill from there though.

Go camping fella.

If its budget hotels in dunfermline the travelodge where the lads stayed last year is hidden out of the way a bit. Holiday Inn Express's Car park its hidden from the main road aswell, all pretty close together. Thread divert. If you need any pointers drop me a PM.

not quite the same thing though, DSG good as it is for a road car is not going to be (1) as fast, and (2) deal with the torque that a proper sequential can do, they also are dam big and heavy...

not quite, retail is not 100% fixed at the moment, but it's looking at ~£11-12K for the 6 speed box, the Geartronics paddleshift setup is just shy of £3K

7 speed version is a little more (should be <£1K extra)

Obviously not done mounts for the XV, but it's hardly going to be difficult (already dome them for all Elise variants), and drive-shafts/joints will be the same.

to be honest, we did not consider the VX as a market when we started this project, but more than happy to look at it if anybody is serious.

i doubt there will be much vx interest, people pay less for the car than that!! but that said i know of a vx that has just had one of these box's chucked in. The vx owner hasnt surfaced on here yet... but no doubt he will once its back in his hands (if not then it will be seen out on track i imagine)

not sure where you get £80K from? (although to be fair, from nothing it would be not far short of that).

I have built cars from scratch, this is one for my Australian customer, took just short of 2 weeks to build, and probably cost ~£75K all in, this car now holds the lap record for Prodsports at Bathurst (amongst others).

it always costs more if you do this stuff in stages and it really depends on where you start from.

As for me, well, my rates are very reasonable.....and you can see what can be done....
