when the plod sell on a car do they return the engine management to standard or is it still remaped?

My parents neighbour is in the Met and he said he would *never* buy an ex-police car.

Looking at getting a daily driver and done a bit of research into ex police vehicles as they seem to be quite cheap.

Anyone got any experience with this? Pros? Cons?

I'm guessing high mileage and driven hard but well maintained and cheap.

Here we go.... I will sell you one of these....Take your pick.....lol

Denzle....

Hang about a bit. Cant get it to upload.

It's got a cop motor, a 440-cubic-inch plant. It's got cop tires, cop suspension, cop shocks...

Guy I met at the weekend had a Volvo, poss a T5. He is a mechanic who really knows his stuff. Car was on a private plate and I had no idea it was an '06 ex Police car with moon miles. Was a very clean car and he is delighted with it. He believes the suspension and battery/alternator are still uprated (I thought they had stopped modifying Police cars when ordinary vehicles became able to go around corners).

Some 20 years ago I bought an ex cop BMW K100RT motorcycle for a song. It had done 75k miles, which was a lot for a City of London bike, and had a load of stone chips on the fairing. I did another 100k miles on it before something biggish went and it wasn't worth repairing. It was a very reliable and cheap to run bike. Not fun to ride though, but comfy. I actually met the copper who rode it. Turned out he was a Police instructor and drove along the motorway with two learner Police just in front of him. They were speed limit exempt, hence the high miles and stone chips. I'd buy one again if I was in the market for a very cheap run around.
