Coppice is about 100-110 mph at a guess.

The entry yes but looking at Dave's laps (1:44) the apex speed is more like 85mph.

Any chance of some data Jimmy?

I paid for instruction when I did a track day at Cadwell a few months after taking delivery of my car in 2003. The instructor who tested for Lotus and knew the Elise and Exige really well, had me cornering through there at 90 mph on standard tyres and suspension. He did a few laps at the end of the session and turned in at 105 mph with only a tiny lift on turn-in. We were still nudging 100 mph after scrubbing off speed up to the apex. That was as quick as a standard car could get through there without mucking up the entry to the double right-hander.

With sticky tyres, track suspension and a wing/splitter, I reckon 110 mph apex speed is doable, assuming enough power to reach that speed before the end of the straight... probably 250+ bhp?

Those lap times must be lightning. What sort of times were you seeing? P.S. I'm a data whore so if you have any racelogic info I would love to see it :)

SteveA,

My entry speed was over 100mph at Coppice through the Apex...I'm not sure what speed Dave or Jimmy was doing through there.

Dave & Jimmy was quicker through hairpin & Barn than I was, but I have now found a better line through there, thanks to Jimmy!

Looked at Daves data last night and he hits 110 mph on the entry but is down to 86 by the apex. Due to the gradient I recon you would have to be fully flat through there to be over 100 at the apex. I find it best to ignore the cones at Barn. The Marshals lay them out to make things safer if it goes wrong. If you watch the proper motorsport boys they the entry earlier and clip a later apex. It does set you up for a trip into the barriers if you go even slightly wide though thumbsdown

I was glancing at the speedo just before the bend and from memory I think I topped out at about 110mph on the entry (250bhp SC), so you guys must have been doing faster than me.

here is a mildly interesting fact - when I raced at Cadwell in Historic Formula Ford in 2005 my best lap was 1.41.4. The top boys were in the 37s I think. I had only done 14 laps in total beforehand though as a complete novice. Not bad for a 1971 car without wings and slicks and only 90 or so BHP.
