i think they do the following: increase vibrations at idle make the side mounts last longer improve acceleration slightly

improve acceleration slightly

so slight that it was all other conditions that made more impact first

note I had a set of side mounts last in excess of 50K and they are still fine just not being used.....

:yeahthat: very very slightly but a difference none the less they are worth having just because they seem to make the side mounts last longer IMO

Idle is the same on my car, but there is more vibrate at some rpms and loads that was not there before. Drive line feels very solid when car is launched between gears. Makes car feel more solid, at the cost of some small vibration. Common practice is to just put them on the rear mount... like mine...

I`m just a bit worried that the vibrations could cause something to crack/brake?? Is there any alternatives?

Yep, remove them and stick with the standard mounts on their own, like 90% of the cars on the road.

If you are concerned that the extra (small) vibrations will break something then you had best not drive the car incase a small deflection in the road surface writes off the car

I didn't have them in mine and decided to fit them (front and rear) to preserve the side mounts. I find I get no change at idle, and no change whilst up and down revs. Where I did notice a bit more vibration was at low revs whilst pulling off if I was going really gentle. Otherwise it was pretty unremarkable.

The turbo engine bay is larger for a reason and that's part of it.

Aint it just the lid that is larger? I have no idea to be honest, im not arguing, where exactly is it bigger where it would affect the exhaust?

tbh the ruber next to it is fine!...... polyurethane = fail.

Nope, not just the engine cover. More space between the engine and the boot bulkhead as well. That's why the turbo boot is a few inches shallower than the NA's and why Lotus had to increase the size of the boot lid vents when they fitted the ears to allow the additional cooling air to escape.

I have been educated

I still think that the mounts are an epic fail tho, they dont even fit properly in the first place, they bow out around the edges.....

Like so (excuse my ubber paint skills) even in the freshly fitted courtenay pic they are bowing out.

Soon as pressure is applied to the original mount it squeezes the powerflex ones out round the edges (the edges being the only bit that does anything)...

When not moving, I would have thought that the load is carried by the part of the mount/insert that is clamped by the mount bracket. When using on front and rear, you would have thought that where one is loaded wrongly from the perspective of the part being effective, that the other would be handling the opposing force in the desired way? I must say, on balance, I am glad I did this. The car does feel better during gearchange somehow. Probably just placibo  :)

Your little pipe that goes to the dumpvalve thingy is hanging off, in case you didnt see it?

Is the little heatshield fitted on the mount? my vxr has a little metal shield and it makes getting to the bolt a sod!

Well worth it to make side mounts last longer. Also who in their right mind wants their engine rocking around behind them? Another funny thing about these is they stop the engine rocking when you start the car. Because the starter motor can't move there is a jolt through the chassis. I really like the jolt, I know that sounds sad and is hard to explain. Probably best to just suggest you get them or just one for that matter. Even fitting either one of the front or rear inserts helps enormously. Best regards, Paul
