Not just a Tullett problem. I've had 6 or 7 different exhaust systems on this car and all of them have blown the stuffing out. The Tullett, with the higher grade AcoustaFil is the only one that hasn't (noticeably, at least) to date. How old was the exhaust? Doesn't really sound acceptable to me for such an expensive product (runs away and hides from the Tullet fans)

That's good news, hope it lasts longer than just a few track days....
Matt,
6/7 different exhaust systems....that must be a record!

I didn't pay for all of them, thank God. I'm still on a quest for a decent but quiet one though. My Milltek was the best in terms of noise but no way I'd have been able to run it on the car as it is now.6/7 different exhaust systems....that must be a record!

That seems a bit ridiculous, I have never heard if any other type of cars clearing out packing so universally? Is it because we have such a short exhaust length compared to most?
No, same length as everyone else. Not quite sure why it's burning out...Chris Tullets said that it had mostly emptied & crystallised inside both boxes due to heat. The new stuff should be good for 900 degrees, we'll see!

Once again the noise levels were creeping up, last time out at Cadwell with Jimmy I was static noise tested at 3500rpm (a little white lie) & I was clocked at 102db.
I thought noise tests were done at 4500 rpm (supposedly 3/4 max rpm)? Does it vary from place to place?

I assume that was the "little white lie" on the static test.

Nop it's because our tuned maps are rough and not really optimized as no one could map the ECU as perfectly as it should so, especially the SC cars, are running skyrocket EGTs (basically due to the huge safety needed as they do not have post cooler air temp)

On the subject of exhausts, is the OEM Turbo backbox much of a restriction on a S/C car? I'm thinking about using one instead of a Tullet/2Bular/whatever because of A) noise issues and,
I'm tight.
It will be more restrictive that a stright through design, however it is 2.25" (I've got one mated to a piper 2.25" cat pipe) so bigger than the NA miltek, getting a bigger cat pipe is more important IMO.
Jonnyboy used to run one on his SC with a 2ubular cat but never had it on the rollers IIRC

Any opinions as to how frequently this needs doing? I've never even looked at mine.
I'm sure noise is an issue for everybody who tracks, so perhaps a lot of noise limit issues could be solved by maintaining the packing inside the boxes, after all it should be a simple job to do.
Mine was pooped after less than 500 miles. It drove to anglesea and had gotten freekin loud after about 3 laps.
