looking for a bit of a guide to removing any unwanted items from the car to reduce weight,as all the removable bodywork is coming off the car its an ideal time to remove any bits it doesnt need as its a track only car cheers darron

there might an extra 1,5kg from the airbag IF I did not added to the speakers combo. (will verify today... )

still to add: polycarbonate windows
race clutch+flywheel+pistons+rods
+the weight of the Delta kompressor

will also arrive (sometime this year) carbonfiber front trunk (big saving there!)
carbonfiber 3rd stop rollbar cover

Could start off with the heater kit and plates behind seat heads, and perhaps the rear shelving/firewall cover and insulation, I reckon those together are pushing 15kg, maybe a bit under. Im a bit out of knowledge on this part tho, try messaging forum member 'Nev', he's got some good knowledge around this area, but I'm sure lots of others have too

The headrest's and plates have allready gone also the plastic shelf behind seats removed and speakers & stereo boot lining. centre console gone.

already removed any interior bits we dont need,and plan to remove all heater parts and poss rear screen winstars post above mentions the undertrays,has anyone run without them?? i am thinking that if the car was fitted witha functioning splitter and some side skirts it would create negative pressure under the car and thus draw air thru the engine bay reducing heat??

Has anyone worked out what difference the weight saving will make to the performance? For example: Each saving of 10kg will result in a 0 - 60mph saving of ....seconds?

Get a hair cut and leave your wallet in the van, theres a big weight saving. Then look at pro alloy fuel tank. Remove headlights and fit blanking plates remove dashboard, perspex windows/no windows? Remove alarm and locks.

Plastic cam cover and lightened flywheel. Swap to lighter lotus hubs and then lotus oz wheels

Its a turbo so already has a plastic cover. He already has a lightened flywheel fitted. The wheels are worth considering although expensive as he runs heavy speedlines at the mo

Elise Parts aluminium centered disc brakes would probably save a bit too, and saving weight off bits that go up and down and round and round is worth more than normal weight saving.
