I have a coupe back Nev Want to lose as much weight as possible even from the front as the cc system at the front will weigh a fair bit.

Have you weighed your car yet Joe, I'd be interested to know how it does compared to mine (895 Kg with 1/3 tank of fuel). Would you guess you'll be in the 870 Kg region ?

I have a lightened bonnet and the biggest weight saving is on removing the hinge and the lock mechanism. at a guess I'd say 2-3 kg. There isn't much you can remove from the bonnet itself without compromising the air flow out from the radiators and over the car. The rear bootlid has more potential for weight saving by cutting out most of the inner skin. My lightened bootlid is about half the weight of the standard one plus the weigth removed by ditching hinges and locking mechanism. I could weigh my lightened bonnet for you, but you'll get a better idea of the potential weight saving by weighing the hinge and locking mechanism I think.

Guess what Joe...... guess what I've just weighed :) From my calculations of me standing on the scales and then doing the same with the bonnet and door... The bonnet weighs 5.8Kg The door weighs 18.5Kg The door had the hinge, mirror, window winder and glass attached. It was missing the door card and the other black parts of the inner door that I cannot remember the name off, but seeing as they are made of foam/plastic...they aren't exactly gonna weigh kilos!

Plastic windows would be the biggest thing to do on the door. I can't see how much more weight could be removed from the door unless you go mental on it and re-skin it in carbon on the outside and inside? As I'm replacing the door hinge, I've got a hinge and door bar that I'll weigh tomorrow (they are surprisingly light!)

Whenever you need some weight figures (stock or modified), you can refer to below thread.
The platic windows are weighted in it and corresponding savings are available (page 74)

It's in French but the pictures speak for themselves
