Anyone removed all the plastic from the fuel cap? I know how to take the lock out but want to get it back to just the metal so it can be powder coated the same as the wheels will be this week.
Is it just bonded on? really could do without fecking it up beyond repair trying to take it apart!!!

From what I remember reading, it's best to keep a key in it to stop it all pinging apart?
Id Start with that circlip on the base

circlip just removes the lock from the unit
and yes keep the key in!!!
really would like to separate the metal outer from the plastic inner.
Edit - managed it!

What's the trick to doing this? Is it bonded in any way? Thinking about doing this to mine so any advice would be welcome.

really easy in the end!
remove the c-clip, put the (spare!) key in and remove the lock.
then get a very fine jewellers screwdriver and prise it between the plastic and the alloy and gently lift the plastic out, its not bonded in, its just a very tight 'friction' fit
Glad I got it out as Paul @ '1st Class Alloys' is going to 'shadow chrome' the cap & surround to match the alloys, collars & cuffs ect ect!!!
