I feel better using gloves as it keeps the contact with the wheel constant, particularly good when steering with only one hand (and especially if you find the need to change gear during a corner). If my hands are freezing cold or if they sweat the grip is the same, and nothing changes from the beginning of the first drive to the last lap of the day. They also protect your hands from the abuse they get from wrestling with the steering wheel all day. Most people don't wear gloves, but who wants to be like everyone else?

You guys aint trying hard enough!!! I get blisters on my the palm of my hands (around the thumb) if I don't wear gloves on a track day!! Plus if it does go wrong the gloves are flame proof. Also helps with grip imo but that is on a suede wheel, however I used gloves on my old leather wheel :)

I don't wear a race suit on track days though as I'd feel a twonk which is silly really. Dave you could do with some race boots though after seeing those clod hopper daps you tracked in at Brands

But you do have absoultley no mechanical sympanthy at all. It must be tough on the hands driving over all those kerbs!

i have always found my fox sindewinder moutain biking gloves to be perfect (best to be in what feels most comfortable, in my opinion) they also have the little towel bit on which is handy when buzzing around, and have some sot of vuncanised rubber ont he finger tips, which means that you dont have to be gripping on to the steering wheel too tightly.Sshoes wise, puma drift cats I have always found to be really good, and pretty much the same as racing boots, just my opinion though :)

Proof positive, that special driving clothes (be it gloves or boots) do not maketh the man when behind the wheel. G
