Does it have to be a trackday? There's plenty of Alpine passes well worthy of a blast. thumbsup

:yeahthat: we could go on a road trip?

20+ cars on a road trip? Especially when it comes to mountain passes. Carnage.

Stelvio is pretty pants tbh I went there a few years back and it's too tight and busy for any proper thrills.

Just to chuck my 2p in - this is definitely the case. I was there in June this year and it was a bit of a let down. As per the normal advice, we went up the pass rather than down. However, the hairpins are hard to swing round if there are cars coming towards you, next to no visibility, no distance between turns to get any speed up, terrible road surface and there were loads of freaks going up there on push bikes.

However - the drive back down the other side into Switzerland was the best of the whole trip... We sat down when we got back and mapped it out for future use: http://goo.gl/maps/CYuU

(We were staying in Grainau which is why the route ended there)

No, me neither.

I certainly wouldn't be signing up for it. I'd possibly do a small group of three or four cars kind of trip, that doesn't draw too much attention, especially from the Swiss Nazi'sPolice but big numbers are just a nightmare to control. That's kind of why whatever it is needs a proper focus point, obviously the trackday(s) in the case of Le Mans.

http://www.skylimite...lster-berg.html this was the trackday company that Ian danger7 recommended, and they have a bilster berg OPL day in October for 350 euros which is about £275 having done the highland hoon, we have some experience of running a road trip with around 20 cars, there are some countries you would avoid due to the local police, and you would want to have a low profile. Just a four car hoon to Monaco was ace, I'd love to do that again.

Spa is not just a better track than Le Mans, there are other attractions. There is the spa/leisure centre at the top of the hill which I have been to and its well worth a visit if you like that kind of thing. The town centre of Spa whereas it is small there are good hotels there and places to eat that are actually open. Spa has the oldest (or second oldest depending on who you believe) casino in the world if you're interested in that. Last time we went we organised karting the night before the track day (close to the circuit) and, of course, the Nordschleife is only around 65 miles away across country and is a great drive. PS. I've done Spa 7 times now and IME the weather thing is exaggerated and has never been much of a problem

Hi everyone, arrived back in Blighty last night. Great trip, possibly a little too much driving, I will learn one day.

Crossed the Col du Galibier, D'Iseran and a couple of others. Great roads but far too many cyclists to really enjoy yourself or make good progress.

Pics to follow.
