Hopefully someone with one of these fitted can clarify something

I have read that people have bought the elise series 1 tow bracket from elise-parts as linked below but when I compare this with the original one Eliz has for sale on ebay it looks like the hole location is higher on the original??? Surely this can't be right as it would cause issues lining up with the hole in the grill?

(Sorry to anyone not happy with me posting on this forum as well as under my wanted post but thought the title and correct forum might help get the answer)

Thanks

Nope, VX is totally different to the S2 Elise style tow strut as it only uses one fixing at the top

But if you find a photo of your crashbox I think it has the holes pre drilled

Then assuming it fits, you'll need the additional supports for the top and bottom of the S2 one that fit on the outside of the crashbox, if you want to fit one.

Actually I'm lying its the s2 crashbox that come with all 3 holes The Vx comes with only one hole pre drilled Although the s2 mount looks very similar to the Vx one and would rather fit that and drill 2 holes than for the s1 one as otherwise you would need a extra long tow hook

Just use nut and bolts ;) it will definitely fit. As its the same crashbox

Orrrrrr could just buy a new oem Vx tow hook  or are they resiculously expensive?

Personally, I'd much rather have the S2 version and the support plates properly riveted in place. I'd be terrified to ever got towed because of that one bolt on the top of the standard VX version and visions of it getting ripped out of the crashbox.

I'm sure it's probably a p!ss take price new from Vauxhall though. Luckily I've got one of Simsy's stainless ones (though powdercoated as me no likey shiney stuff).

Got an stainless elise S1 sitting here. From reading this post looks like its not going to be any good. If anyone has a chance to measure the gap from the base of the tow bracket to the centre of the towing hole it would be appreciated. Will PM Eliz see if she'd mind measuring the one on ebay. For info the Elise S1 base to centre of hole is around 74mm. Overall length is around 163mm Glad I found this out before taking the clam off :)

I'm also looking for a new stainless towing mount, but so far the thread in my opinion doesn't state if I can use a s1 or s2 one? Or are there those from Simsy still available? Already bought myself the stainless bolt set and a new upgraded radiator and thinking about buying new hoses. Do I need anything else now the clam is off?

But isn't the hole in the wrong place, too low, too far back?
