Hi I'm thinking of upgrading my turbo, what other options are there other than the leh turbo without getting in to big money? What are the pros and cons of the leh or another turbo? My main concern which I wouldn't want is too much turbo lag Thanks 😊

stage 2 setup is all you need for the road, do the brakes and suspension first though.

:yeahthat: Well set up suspension will give you a much bigger grin than another 50bhp* Being able to thread the car through bends that physics say it shouldn't be able to is much more fun than wobbling round the corner to blast out of it later... Had an Audi trying to sit on my arse after I picked my car up with Hofmanns magic installed... it was only a 60mph NSL so didn't want to get dragged into any silly speeds willy waving competitions so just waited for the double S bend that was ahead and floored the car straight through it ;) I was literally 400 meters further down the road when the Audi exited the corner as mere blip in the rear view mirror! :D *but do get the extra bhp when you've had the suspension & brakes done, best of both worlds then!!!!

250bhp and 250lb.ft torque , anymore than that and you will need to replace clutch with an upgraded one to cope. seriously unless you have the budget to do clutch, upgraded cooling, then fit the turbo upgrade and get it remapped. Are you still on original narrow front wheels and bridgestones, in which case you already have more than enough for public roads.

i'm not sure what you mean by turbo on its limits, but unless its cracked then keep it. Facts are many turbos should have had their second cambelt change done and likewise all the suspension dampers, bushes, ball joints, trackrods could do with replacing, I think those will give you better handling and piece of mind.

if your turbo is faulty, then the astra vxr one is a direct bolt on replacement, you don't have to remap it. There is a good reason I say stay under 250bhp and thats simply to do with Insurance, it seems that upto 250 is one category and above they start loading up your premium , or you risk finding that a lot of companies won't cover you. Hence a lot of us running 299bhp.

Yep found the same a lot of companys will not quote over 250bhp and henderson taylor capped my policy at 300bhp.

if you have to replace a turbo, then its a complete no brainer to always fit the astra vxr one, its cheaper and much better.

Aimy if your not technical why ask :) In simples you can make more power from it with less heat and will cost you a lot less than sticking any other turbo on it, plus your standard internals wont cope with any more power than this turbo will make so like Sizten said its a no brainer.

If your LET turbo is fcuked then buy the LEH one, no other options really unless you want over 300bhp and want to spend a lot lot lot of money
