Personally, I can't think of anything more boring and sh!t than repeatedly nailing the car in a straight line. I've seen those jet fuel powered things with parachutes at Santa Pod and managed about 30 minutes of that before deciding that was just as crap and pointless as some fool in a 1.2 Corsa doing the same from a set of traffic lights. To me, it's lower down the totem pole than lawnmower racing.

So, because of my total lack of interest, I've got no frame of reference to go on. What is considered a "fast" car? I see Duncan talking about 11 seconds, is that quick for a normal car? Is a 10 second car really really quick for a road car? How do those times compare to 0-60 or 0-100 (equally sh!t measure as well but at least I can understand those)? How do those times compare with "supercars"? Does having a car that could only do it in 15 seconds instantly mean you've got a sh!t car and must be one down in the gonad department? Does not giving a sh!t what time your car is capable of instantly turn you into a eunuch?

I'm with you it was totally boring about 90% of the time. This was a Nostalgia meeting and there wasnt a Corsa in sight (probably none in NZ) I had a Media pass and was able to go where I liked. Even though I own 2 Lotus 7s and a VX turbo I'm an old Hot Rodder at heart and it was interesting to see the old cars and the characters involved.. alot of New Zealand auto history there that day. 0-60 times, top speed, 1/4 mile times dont mean alot but I posed the question out of interest and I think a few people would be surprised to see my little red car do a quick 1/4... most of them would be saying "What the #### is a VAUXHALL?"

What's to love? The fact every corner is blind?! or the fact the track is closed every ten minutes because there has been another crash! I don't see how you can enjoy it unless you have done hundreds of Laps

:yeahthat:

You need at least 50-100 laps under your belt before you can even start to remember certain sections let alone be thinking about decent lines etc.

Still bloody good fun though!

Same with drifting. Saw it at Snett last year and had no fekking idea what that was all about.

Amen to the drifting, what a load of crap. I went with a buddy to Llandow who said there was some drifting going on. Got there and they wanted £5 each and even charged for his boy who was 3 at the time, thought it was just shite and payed for the privilege. Thumbs up to Shane Lynch who managed a bit of a donut before stalling it, made it a bit more of a laugh.

I will be honest enough to say I would probably go to Santa Pod for a rip just to see what it could do.

I Think the ring is great but every year it gets a little bit worse as it's so popular now. Best time on track was when we stubbled on a performance car show at the GP track and they were offering 30 min sessions for 40 euros, with very limited numbers of cars setting off from GP track for full flying laps. Fantastic.

Is that just not like driving down country roads / alpine passes etc?

239bhp at the flywheel and 305lbft but that torque figure seems a bit high for a stage 2 i thought?!? Thats what the graph says anyway. The rollers may have been torque happy lol.

Unfortunately, for some, it is. Most of the Brit Chavs that turn up there seem to think that's perfectly good and will enable them to break 7:30 on their first lap.
