So car has been sat up for about 3 weeks outside and first bit of decent weather decided to take it out.
Starts first time without a problem, normal driving and pushing it to about half throttle all runs fine.
Go to pull out quickly and give it some proper stick and engine starts fluttering/stuttering.
Do a bit more testing and plodding at 30mpg in 3rd and then giving it about half throttle does the same.
So happens under heavy load and anywhere under that it pulls just like it should do, coming on boost fine.
Doesn't backfire or drop out completely.
Was fine about 2 months about going all the way to Spa for a TD and back.
I'm thinking it could be the rain we've had of late has knackered affected the coil pack as it lives outside.
I've got a spare coil pack to try out, does this sound like a failing coil pack?
Grabbing at straws is I haven't cleaned the air filter since it was SC'd Easter last year, it's the one that Courtenay supply.
Any other suggestions would be much appreciated
Cheers!

I guess one way to find out is change the coil pack.
Is it covered when not in use?

Yep, I know what you mean, it's not that sort of flatspot when it's cold.
I guess one way to find out is change the coil pack.

Usually it is, I have the plastic Astra cover I usually sit on it, but guess who forgot it during the wettest April ever!

My old tuned MR2 Turbo had the same symptoms - fine until WOT, then it would stutter, almost like some form of crap traction control (which I guess it was in a way
) trying to work.
The problem (a common one) was ignition related, as worn components couldn't keep up with the higher boost / additional fuel requirements, so my moneys on that..
Given how amazingly easy it is to swap a coil pack, I'd try that first off.

Does sound igniton related...that or too few turbines.
You've already checked the plugs right?
