Below you will find some amendments/updates to the Championship sporting regulations and general event information.
1. We have been accessing the first two rounds of this season and the decision has been taken to amend the figure of 5% required to receive a strike to 2.5%. This decision has been made due to the nature of the closeness of the lap times between some of the classes and has led to the need for us to re-assess the ruling – which we have been doing since Round 1. On occasion over previous years we have sometimes seen certain elements of the Time Attack Championship amended to ensure that a fair balance is drawn between competitors and classes, 2012 amendment as follows:
· The ruling is not relevant to the competitors within the respective classes who would be moving up to Pro and Pro 2WD Classes due to the differences in tyres applicable to the respective classes.
· This change will take effect from Round 1 and will last until the final round (7) on September 23rd
· Drivers falling within the 2.5% rule and receiving a strike from the first two rounds will be notified as soon as possible.
· If weather conditions vary between the sessions then the 2.5% / 3 strike ruling is not enforced.
· Drivers are free to move classes outside of the 2.5% / 3 strike ruling but they must contact me directly first to discuss.
2. Inclement Weather Conditions
· Where a round is deemed to be potentially having frequent changeable weather conditions we may take the decision to not enforce the ruling on the use of tyres, amendment below:
· You will be advised within the morning driver briefing that a free tyre choice is available from within the Classes standard regulations.
· Where the option is free you will make the decision as to your choice of tyre allowed within your specific class.
· If a session has begun and the weather conditions become unacceptable for the continuation of free tyre choice then the Clerk of the Course will stop the session and will make an announcement as to whether the continuation of the session is deemed to be Wet or Dry.
· If a session has not started the Clerk of the Course will make an announcement as to whether the session is to deemed to be Wet or Dry. A tannoy announcement will be made and drivers will be given time to change wheels / tyres once a decision has been made.
3. Vehicle Branding
· It is a requisite that all Championship branding is placed and visible on all competing vehicles, it has been noted that some competitors may not be running the full branding and this is not acceptable so from Round 3 if any vehicle is found to not be running the correct branding then the session they are in will be deemed void.
· The branding forms part of the scrutineering process and will also be checked at various times throughout the day so remember that if you are lined up in readiness to go on-track and any stickers are missing then you will not be allowed on-track or alternatively if you are on-track then you will be black flagged and any times will be void.
· There may exceptions where damage has occurred etc., but please confirm this with a Time Attack Official scrutineer on the day.
· We do have spare branding stickers with us so please come and see us if you are short of any, where they have been paid for by us a charge will be made.
4. Trophy Presentations
· Where a driver has been placed to receive a trophy from the Round you must come and collect it or where possible send a representative to collect it for you.
· If you, or your representative, do not collect the trophy and/or you do not have a valid reason for collecting it then the trophy will not be handed to you at another time.
· Also when collecting your trophy you must ensure that you are wearing your race suit and that you are presentable – this presentation is for the benefit of you and any sponsors, team member(s) or business’s who support you.
· The trophy presentations timings are within the time table and the location of the podium/stage is within the final event regulations so there is no reason why you are unable to attend.
