That does suck that they have now changed supplier & know it's a problem but have not agreed to change all peeps who have the problem. I have a 2bular as well & they appear very well made but I can't comment on the db as not had it tested on a track day. As techieboy said though you do have to be prepared to wait a while for it. Be different/quieter on a vxt anyway I guess so not relevant if you guys are na/sc. Cheers.

They dont need to forsee track limits changing, they need to update their claims. If they want to continue the "meets track noise limits" claim then it should. If not then bin it off the website.

Meet what limit though? If it meets some track's limits then is that not sufficient to day it "meets track noise limits". It doesn't claim "meets all track noise limits" as clearly that would be impossible, unless you were driving a childs electric toy.

Anybody on good terms with chris to discuss what effort and investment from our side it would take to get some r&d done? Happy to invest some if this goes forward again, as it's dead stuck atm.

I'll be interested to see how the latest group-buy people get on with the new and larger cats. I think they have a significant silencing effect. Pretty sure it does on NickB777's original 2Bular which has a massive cat in comparison to the weedy little things we had.

Matt have you ever tried a large enclosed airbox to stop some of the whine?

I tried to re-fit the standard (and a turbo) airbox but couldn't get it back in without having to twat about with where the ECU is mounted, so didn't bother. Ramair are currently making me a large enclosed filter with 100mm ducting and an outlet to mate with my intake pipe, which I hope will at least cancel some of the increased noise for the silly sized pulley. If it reduces the stage 3 noise down to stage 2 levels or even lower, that'll help and at least draw a bit less attention.

I'm currently running a large 100 cell cat as the original tullet one failed. It has had no effect on the noise levels. I wonder if the cell size has more effect? ie 400 cell cat with narrow tubes is likely to be quieter than a 100 cell cat with bigger tubes. Obviously you would then need a mahoosive 400 cell cat but there may be something in it.

It maybe useful for anyone with a repackable Tullet to know that the db comes down significantly if re-packed with Acoustafil. If you haven't come across this yet, it's a fairly new material that's recently being used for GT endurance racing where extreme exhaust heat for extended periods degrades anything else pretty fast. My 2yr old 2.5" system and silencer was always close to the 105db limit at Oulton Park with a 300bhp SC and getting closer, so I was surprised when taking it apart a few months ago that most of the original wadding was intact, so replacing with more wouldn't help much. So I phoned Tullett and asked about Acoustafil. This looks bizarre, like a bag of loose wool fibres, but it transforms with heat to form a heat-resistant but more thoroughly sound-absorbing foam, with a small bhp benefit too due to smoother flow. Some other specialist exhaust suppliers are using it as well, such as JP Exhausts who supplied it for my other car. I was a bit sceptical but fitted it all in, and it's been measured between 96 and 98db at 3 trackdays since. If interested, Tullett can supply, as can others. It's just a matter of knowing the correct quantity for the silencer & internal pipe size, and I didn't find their price much different to elsewhere.
