i hear you bra. on the styling always end up singing/humming babybird's 'king bing' - 'oh you ugly beautiful thing - OH YEAH!!! - oh you ugly beautiful thing i caught between your head and your sting' i honestly think that we are only missing the noise - like there's plenty of power and transfer - but the illussion of grunt is the only think missing from the mix - somebody get paul oakenfield on the horn. love the goth references. you should edit and add and send it to pistionheads. seriously. we'll add the pics too if you like!

Thanks TT, but nah. It only takes me a read of one of Bulgin or Setright's best pieces to put my rambles in context. 'sides I'd rather write to entertain my mates :grouphug:

Why not buy an old Capri, shoehorn a large V8 into it, and da ra(!!) your very own V8 monster with (slightly) iffy handling :) Have any of you lot actually done this? I have a Capri and am seriously tempted to go along these lines...

Bob, I agree with your review completely. A few months back I went through a crisis of wanting to change the VX for something else. I loved the Tuscan, it is just that I wouldn't be able to enjoy it easily at 8/10ths like I can the VX. It is too powerful and demading a car for my level of driving ability. If I were Shuey tough...

T, not just me too poof for a Tuscan then ! :D I've thought a lot about it this week - I've done 700 miles in three sizeable journeys in the VX and I'm coming to the conclusion that I'm just too, erm old or poof to be intimidated by my car every time I drive it. I can rag the VX spitefully without NEARING its limit and the car just calmly but joyfully challenges me further. The Tuscan S was just waiting for the chance to catch me out. I sho' missed the drama of that S lump though...I dunno. Incidentally I had to work yesterday so I couldn't let Marshey drive my VX as planned. Part two of my boring saga will have to wait. Don't be too disappointed y'all... :D

Just seen this post and having owned a Tuscan S for a couple of years, and 22k miles, and now considering the VX with an order on a VXR, was interested to read what you thought. I think you explained the diffferences quite nicely tho. They are two different cars - the Tuscan more of a GT really, than a lightweight nimble sports-car like the VX(T). They can be scary and I did have a couple of "moments" in it but it never sent me backwards into a hedge. I think a lot of people attach the handling nightmare stigma of the earlier V8 TVRs onto the newer models. They're not half as bad as they used to be, though there's still a lot of room for improvement, and you still have to have a lot of respect for the car, especially in the wet. But they're awesome machines, and I'd have one again in the future. I just need to cut back on my running costs for now, and fancied something different. PB... if you're tempted and don't mind the extra costs to run one, do it! :D -andy-

One of my mates has a tusan s and I must admit I really enjoy going out in it. He has racing cans on it and boy does that soung orgasmic. I find the interior mega comfortable, its like sitting in an armchair strapped to a rocket. I would not want one though, it drinks optimax like it going out of fasion and the handling is awful on the track, but as a south on France cruise vehicle I would rather take it. :D

I have a griffith 500 at the mo while the VX is being repaired - it's an absolute beast! in the rain this morning I lost the back end on a straight road, in third gear doing about 35mph  it sounds superb but I don't feel safe pushing it in the same way as the vx. it feels a bit like poking a good natured rotweiller in the eye - sooner or later its gonna bite and probably with little warning the heater controls don't work, it uses almost as much oil as fuel, the steering is less than precise, the seals/roof are knackered etc.. I do love it though :D

The TVR griffith 500 sounds wonderful, but you need you wits about you to drive one in the wet. I think a bit too dangerous for the unqualified driver.

you calling me unqualified steve? :P

you have to be totally in the right frame of mind and concentrating 100% it's a bit like a bike - you can't just hop on after a heavy night and expect to get there in one piece

obviously all this is half the fun of the griff but it just gets wearing day in day out

if cars were women (stick with me) this is definately the kind that you meet up with in a hotel once a month for sordid sex acts. its great fun but that doesn't mean you wanna do it every day, and you're still better off taking the wife to Ikea
