If he's after someone to have a look round as he's just purchased it I'd be taking it to BOT as they've almost certainly seen one before.
If it were a standard NA the engine's common even if the rest of the car isn't so most garages would know the engine, but as its a stage 4 tubby it's a fair bit less usual so the trip to BOT would be justified IMO
