Unfortunately the time has come for me to sell my lovely VX :( The VX was my first foray into 2 car ownership, with the VX being for weekend fun, road trips and the occasional track day and a diesel shed for daily commuting. However unfortunately its spent far too much time in my garage as I've recently got back into mountain biking, so end up using the daily drive to ferry bikes around on the weekend while the VX remains tucked up inside - which is not what these cars are about. As such, after a few months trying to persuade myself to keep it, I've realised that it makes no financial sense to be paying a car loan on something that isn't getting used and doesn't really fit my needs, so regretfully I've decided to sell up and revert back to a one car/hot hatch/does it all garage that I can stick my bikes in.

I bought the car at the beginning of the year and have since spent a small fortune adding to the already Extensive Service History and list of extras to get it exactly how I want it. As such I think you will be hard pressed to find another VX for sale with the same spec!

The Basics:
VX220 NA 2.2
52,000 on the clock
12 Months MOT
5 Months Tax
Fully Stamped Service History
HPI Clear - (Non a Cat car)
Exterior Colour - Silver
Interior - Dark Blue Leather/Black Alcantara

All recalls done

Engine:
NA 2.2 purrs smoothly as it should, doesn't use any oil or coolant
Timing Chain replaced in the last 12 months
Courtenay Sport Remap
K&N Kone Filter
Carbon Coolant bottle Cover
Badass Chrome water-ingress shields
Full Larini done in 2011
All Engine Mounts replaced within the last 12 months

Chassis:
Steering Colum UJ's replaced in the last 6 months (Top and Btm to remove play from the steering)
New steering rack fitted by previous owner

Wheels/Tyres/Brakes:
VX Turbo Alloys
Front Tyres Toyo Proxe 4's (Brand New)
Rear Tyres: Bridgestone Potenza's - Loads of thread left
Front Brake Pads: Mintex 1155's (Brand New)
Rear Brake Pads: Pagid Blue

Bodywork:
VX Turbo Front Splitters
VX Turbo Rear Spoiler
Exige Mirror Plynth's
Steinmetz Grille (£350 new - Bonkers)
VX Turbo Window Seals (Pretty much a must have upgrade - car remains bone dry now)
Re-conditioned and Water-proofed Soft top with bag
Outdoor Car Cover with storage bag
TAT short Rear Diffuser
Blacked windscreen surround
Black Petrol Cap
Black Turbo Headlights
HID Headlight Conversion
Overall the paintwork is in good condition with a front end re-spray in 2008 to tidy up the stone chips (there are still some but nowhere near as many as most!)

Interior:
Alcantara re-trimmed Dash & Door Cards
New Interior Carpet set fitted (makes the car feel allot more refined
Inbuilt Trickle Charger - Ideal if your using as a second car!
Heater Mod carried out properly with Silicon Hose and Mesh (not the sock mod) - As such the car gets nice and hot inside with the heater working on every setting!

Finally, the car has never been smoked in or driven spiritedly without previously been allowed to warm up. The car has been garaged for most of its life and in my ownership has been washed and waxed religiously, it really has wanted for nothing during my ownership and previous as the extensive service history proves!

(More pictures to follow shortly)

The car is available to view from 6:30pm most evenings and weekends in Bury (Nr Manchester)

Please no test pilots or timewasters, no test drives without proof of insurance however I am more then happy to take you out myself

£7000

Small amount of Damage to the inside sill (from driver entry/exit) - very common on VX's, nothing to worry about and not visible when your sat in the car

Hi, first post, so sorry if these are dumb questions.

I'll be in Manchester next week, weds-sun for work (catching the train up, as I wouldn't trust the godawful car I have now, which I bought after selling my RX-8 to pay for a flat deposit).

I'll just start rambling away with my (probably dumbass) questions:-
  • Would you accept part cash, part pay-pal? Just, if I went ahead, I'd be pulling some funds off credit card, and paypal is the only way I can think of without getting charged "cash withdrawal" rates of 30%. (plus, then I can bounce it over to my BarclayCard for 6.9% apr!).
  • Can a total short-ass drive these things? I'm 5'5, or 5'4 depending who you ask. My first car a decade ago was an Astra, and I couldn't reach the bloody pedals without a pillow. I can't take that embarassment again! (And these things are hard to find to sit in and see if it's all comfortable).
  • Other than fuel/tax... how much would you say these things have to have spent on them per year? You mention spending a fair bit, but was this just for the love of it?
  • Would this come up clean on a history check? No write-off or HPI agreements against it? (I don't wanna hike my ass out and then find out it's a CAT-C write off... which has happened before... despite me asking the guy beforehand, telling him I'm gonna check anyhows).
  • What additions has it had which I'd need to declare (if any) on my insurance? (Just done a quote for one, but it had sold yesterday, doh!).
  • Can the soft-top fit in the car?
And I suppose a bit more of a dumbass question... I'd be using it as a daily car too... leaving it in the work carpark for 6-9 hours every weekday. Are these cars really meant to be kept garaged, or covered if they're used daily like that? I wouldn't want to ruin it, I'd like to keep it for a good few years. I guess Bristol does rain a lot less than Manchester though.

Sorry to ask such ridiculous stuff!

:yeahthat: turbo front lights are a lot of money for the sake of some black paint. Has the car had frontal damage?
Not that it makes much difference because the spec is really good. thumbsup

They're NA headlights that I painted black while I refurbed / sealled them. Easy enough to do while I had the lenses off. I guess not strictly VXT headlights, but as you say, black paints the difference :)

Happy/Sad day, the VX has just driven off my drive to her new home :( ... strongly trying to resist the urge to find a cheap cat car to fill the space in my garage :o
