I dont have the intention of making a project thread, but here are a few pics of what's gone into to the build, I'l try and put more up later

I would have put the pics up ages ago, but with my baby boy coming into the world early everything got thrown into chaos :)

Ok so PEC (PerformanceEngineComponents.com) pistons and rods, good for 1500bhp per cylinder! :tt: Look amazing quality! Well worth the money!! Oh 86.5mm overbore!

Also was gona put pics of my Garrett turbo and tubular manifold, but I must not have taken pics... thumbsdown Oh well to follow! Dont think you lot really want to see pics of water pumps, oil pumps, kaskets, bolts etc etc...

The turbo is a Garrett gt2860rs

http://www.turbobyga...RS_739548_1.pdf

400 - 410 bhp is the aim, Bit more than its rated for, well they are good for 350wheel horse power which is around 400 or more at the flywheel 400 - 15% is 340bhp, so we should be somewhere on the money. plus I still have the Nos if I want a bit more go juice down the straights! ;)

Hi Chris, I didn't realise that you were starting a big build, nice. Are you actually doing all the work or giving it to a garage/mechanic? Could you let us know where you got your 500 ft/lb rated clutch please? I am afraid 400 BHP from a 'disco potato' is a bit optamistic, even with the larger A/R snail and head mods. It should still be very drivable with minimal lag though :)

The latest TTV flywheel is the best l/b flywheel I have seen for the vx. You will need to open up a few of the cover holes to fit the clutch mind :) Remember speaking to PEC ref those pistons a long time back now and are the real deal, very nice bit of kit for the money Be interesting to see what power the turbo makes but should be a responsive little bugger And as MrSimba states very similar work going to be taking place on his ;) DG

Oh, Sent engine and all the bits to a specialist to be bored out and all the internals fitted etc, MMG doing externals and mapping.

The clutch is a specific order from a company in the USA, although it still works out the same price as most 300lbft 4 pot clutches over here. If it works il give you the details :D

I think we will see 400, with my setup, considering what I was pushing from a standard leh, but if its not enough I will just stick a gt30 on and run it a bit lower boost, want to stay under 430bhp, Ive left a bit in the kitty to buy a gt30 if it comes to it

Yeh im really happy with the PEC bits, dont think I will quite be using the 1200bhp per cylinder tho :D

What cc injectors do you run Nev? As I know my 630cc are good for my gt28, but not sure if I went to a gt30.....

To be honest its almost finished, but was just put on hold for ages with the baby coming early :)

those wheel offsets are quite aggressive

Not really mate, its just allowed for the 5mm spacers most people add to the et:20 and et:30 setups

ATS DTC rear's f.i. come normally in 9J ET30 and don't know anyone who puts a 5mm spacer to them.
My mate has a set fitted with 9J ET27 and they stick a bit out of his rear wheel arches. (Gave it some more rear camber to keep it looking OK-ish.)
Yours with 9J ET25 will be even wider... :ninja:

et:30 scrubbed the inside on hard cornering, 5mm spacer solved it. = et:25 :borg:

630 cc injectors are good for 500 BHP, so plenty for your conversion.

Ok so my baby boy was born which put everything on hold. He is 4.5 months old now and growing so fast! Crazy!

But anyways, more of what you guys care about.

So just a pic of some of the other bits that went into the build.

Posted Image

And I went and picked up the engine today, its been finished for ages, but I did not have time to even think about it until now.

Posted Image

Think thats the cleanest engine I have ever owned.

Time to get to work on the externals over Christmas I think.
