Hi all, Due to finances and the need to get more grip on track, I have purchased spare rear wheels to fit at the front. My plan is 235/50r17 rear and 225/50r17 front all on feredal 595. Am I daft or what? can it work at all? Well, all comments welcomed!

Go for 205 front, run spacers. You'll be fine.

I have rears on the front with 225 federals. You will need spacers to make the offset between 20 and 24 (mine is 23) and you need to do the sill mod if you want to use any more than 1 lock of steering.

Won't the steering be a bit heavy?

I'm same as Steve on 225 fronts and 245 rears - unless you have mega power I would be tempted to go narrower rims and 215F 235R and same weight on each corner

Steering is only heavy upto 3 MPH and then it's fine.

I run 240/250 bhp. Are you guys saying that 205, 215, 225, 235 or 245 can all be fitted on standard turbo rear wheels? 40 or 50?I also don't understand what "same weight on each corner" means. Bearing in mind it's for track use.

Thanks

OK, feredal 595 So 245/50r17 rear and either 225/50r17 front with 23mm spacers or 205/40r17 rear (spacers?) And all that on standard 7.5j x 17 rear wheels would work? Thanks again

I think I lost myself too! red wine you know!! I'll start again: Rear 245/50r17 Or 225/45R17 Front 225/50R17 with 23mm spacers Or 205/40r17 (Would I need spacers?) Best combination for track considering understeer, grip, etc.? David

Not 50 profile on rear, 245/40/17 are tight, 235/40/17 give more space and either 205 or 215/45 on front.. Not sure what 245 on standard rear wheels is like.

Thanks Crabash. To sum up: 235/40/17 Rear 205 or 215/45/17 Front Do you know what spacer is required at the front for those size?

Sorry I dont, all I can say is the rears are ET35 and fronts ET26. To clarify 235 and 205 or 245 and 215 is what I would use to retain a similar size ratio (diameter) front to rear as standard.

225/45/17 with a R rating tyre is the widest you can fit on the 7.5" wheel, even then sidewall probably will not sit on the bead and the fitter will struggle. If you search for R888 and fitting problems its well known.
