you are not going to get much better than G-Bob's car, good price and with a little 'Ed magic' maybe a little profit to be made Also a Cat D has less ££££ damage than a Cat C and a vx220 Cat D usually means only cosmetic damage

I think Mike will have to have be wearing several pairs of 'Size 10's' to get a VX for that kind of price.

Thanks for all the help guys, We are a little hesitant to buy any car which has been written of just because of the lower resale value of the cars. If anyone does known of a slightly tired or damaged car then we would be very interested. Turboluca I have sent you a PM. Drop me a line with the details of the 220's you mentioned, we could well be interested Ollie

I can't see how you would turn a profit on bob's car. Its a great car for someone to buy and a cheap way into an elise chassis, but its never going to make any money in my view.

Thanks for the suggestions of my car guys. thumbsup Hey Ollie, the thing with vx220's is that you are not going to get much for your budget if you are looking for something that's not a square of aluminium. If you have a budget of 3-3500 then you are not going to get very much and without about 10-15k to fix it up you are going to be struggling. Mine is a cat car AND a bit tired so fits your requirements.

I agree. It's great to hoon around in and have fun, but it's never going to make money without a newer lower mileage engine and possibly a respray. Even then, are you going to gain enough to payback what you spent? Probably not.

I love my car and it's great to drive. It'll give you a massive smile on your face which is worth a lot, but it's never going to make you any money.

an ideal project would take advantage that the labour costs for Edd are not priced in, so engine conversion, lots of bodywork prep ( so he can wave his magic can of Satin Black over ) how about builing a race prepped car, weld in a diy roll cage and go racing.

Buy G-Bobs car and put something like a suprcharged Audi V6 in. If you factor out labour a bit, then there would definately be profit in that. Hell, Id buy the thing!! :) Wasnt there a Lightning Yellow on Wrecks to Riches a few years back. They ended up having a bit of nightmare and had to replace the rear subframe. Think there was a lot of artistic license in saying that they made profit on it :P

We are currently finding cars for series 10 and as you may have guessed we are quite keen to get a VX220.

Nice. Looking forward to the episode.

Not a VX but S1 Elise, but sometimes very cheap cars come up, this one recently on a thread on SELOC. http://forums.seloc.....php?tid=346113

Car cost him £3600 total so it seems!

Strech your budget a little, and have ed built in a supercharger on an NA. It's a bolt on solution, and when buying one used from the states, explaing it comes from a wrecked chevy cobalt, it could make some cool TV. It makes the VX going from 145 bhp to 250 bhp, with roughly 1000 to 1300 pounds of parts. That conversion has been done many times over here, and we wil behappy to help with technical questions.
