Twice in the last month there has been a strong smell of petrol when starting from cold, other times have been perfectly fine with daily starting, couldn't find any leaks. I did a trackday on Tuesday and when I finished I could hear a strong hissing noise, on investigation the injector for cyl no4 was leaking and spraying fuel over the inlet and ECU area, nice! After a bit of pushing and twisting it sealed up again. Would I be right in thinking that it's just the seals/o-rings? Can you buy them as a single part or do Vaux want you to buy an injector at £100+? Cheers Chris

I've got a set of 4 still on the rail.. They're collecting dust in the shed - if you pm me an address I can send you one to see if that fixes the issue?

You can buy o-rings separetely BTW. When you install the injector, remember to use a blob of grease on the ring before you squeeze it into the manifold, as the rings are 'oversized' to ensure a tight seal and can rip/tear easily. GL.

£13 on ebay for a set of seals. Ring your local vauxhall dealer or factors ask for vectra or astra z22se of the same year. Should be the same.

Thanks for the tip Nev, is there any grease I should avoid that might perish the seal prematurely? Badgerade is sending me one up, so if that cures it I'll renew all 4 over the winter as I guess the others must be in a similar condition

Ideal, not a bad price at all, I'll add them to my list of winter jobs :)

Use red rubber grease rather than an organic based grease.

G-Blob has a set of used injectors I gave him. Not sure if he fitted / needed them, but I'm sure he'd be happy to let you use them if he hasn't..

Cool, I'll get in touch with him if it turns out to be the Injector that's faulty, but I suspect it's just the o-ring :)

What injectors are they and in what engine? I thought the zlet injectors were a loose fit in the z22se.

They're just standard Z22SE Injectors I think. Primed the pump after work and it was worse, giving a visible jet of fuel! Stripped it down and that injector came off the fuel rail and remained in the head, was really tight getting it out but the seal did seem a lot thinner than the others once it was out. Put it all back together and it was worse! I'll phone a few stealerships to check stock on the offchance I can get it fixed on Sunday :)

Phoned Vauxhall today... "We don't have them in stock. Also, we're not a VX220 dealership so can't order them in for you, give Pollokshaws branch a call" "Sorry, we don't stock that part, we'll need to get them in, it'll be Wednesday" That's one thing I miss about BMW, that would have been a case of "Sorry sir, we don't have any in stock, pop in this afternoon, they'll be ready any time after 3" At least they didn't cost a ridiculous amount, getting change from £25 for 8

That makes me laugh. We aren't a VX dealer. The same part is on lots of cars, it shouldn't matter which one you order it for as long as its a Z22 thats in the engine bay.

edit :yeahthat: Should've just said you had an astra or vectra 2.2 of the same year. Have you tried any motor factors?

Tell me about it, I had originally asked for seals for a Z22SE but then he asked my reg number. I had the same problem when getting a header tank from Woods in West Calder "Sorry, we can't order that part for you" "OK, just order me one for a 1.6 astra then..." Haven't been near any Factors today, there's no rush now as won't be able to fit them till Wednesday anyway. I regularly pass that dealership too, as I work mainly in the southside of Glasgow.
