I imagine my VXT will remain stock

Best steer clear of any Beds/Bucks meets then. They are the route of all evil when it comes to temptation.

I've held out several years despite attending the beds / bucks meets.

Whatever you do, do not be tempted to look at rob999s turbo either. Too many mods to mention.

Nice step up! :D Just treat it with the utmost of respect in poor conditions and you'll be fine! Modification-wise, I'd certainly recommend some uprated pads. Namely Mintex 1155

It is certainly a completely different car to my last one, and I hear you on the poor conditions front - was very wet today and it is very easy to lose the back end.

Pad wise, I have grooved disks, does that influence what pads to go for at all?

Not really, though could point to your car having an uprated pad of some form already! Camskill sell new plain disks and 1155s for £200 all in, so it's worth changing the disks and pads at the same time for keeping your brakes tip top. Some people find they have poorer brakes after fitting new pads to old disks

Did you get this from a dealer in Donny mate? Looks very tidy, congrats again. Get yourself to a meet some time... :D Stage 1 remap I would recommend...smooth this out nicely!

Thanks for the advice claws, I think I may go for a Jonnyboy hardtop first though as the breaks seem fine but winter is fast approaching and I prefer the look of a hard top. Yes it came from donny beds, and I am going to the one at Royston golf club next weekend. Not sure on the remap, it is already too much for me to Handle at stock! See how I feel when I am used to the car.

I think I've driven your car...went to see it before I got mine. If it is the one, it seemed pretty mint, only a black one caught my eye so went for that instead! :D Nice one, well will hopefully see you next weekend mate. Stage 1 remap doesn't increase the power by much tbh, makes it run smoother more than anything imo.

It wasn't perchance all black, with black alloys, with about 40k on the clock sold by a guy called David was it?

I am a total mid engined RWD n00b so I am taking it easy for the moment!

Also, second day of ownership, torrential rain. I expected the odd leak as they all leak. I was not expecting to have to buy a towel from Tescos and the water under the drivers seat to soak the entire towel! I think I need to learn how to adjust my windows to match the seal as I can see a gap at the corner when the window is fully closed... Any guides? Bearing in mind I have never done anything to a car apart from put fuel in it, I am more than willing to have a go but I won't be offended if the answer is "take it to a garage".

Welcome :grouphug: There are some good 'how to' threads about adjusting the windows - just don't take it to a Vauxhall stealer!

I took a look at a guide and did this

It seems a bit beyond me sadly. I am hoping to get a hard top in a few weeks from Jonnyboy, they will need adjusting when I get that so I may wait it out with some form of cover for when it gets really wet... Unless anyone is in the St Neots area and fancies coming down to adjust my windows? I will provide payment in the form of beer or your preferred beverage?

Ah, shame about the windows mate...I have no issues with mine at the moment, although I did expect it. No mines all black but with 30k and bought from Norwich area mate...

Very nice, only reason I ask is I went to see a black one with 40k on the clock (had been in contact with the seller multiple times to organise where and when etc) and I got a call as I was driving down to say it had been purchased! You are luck with your soft top, I am probably going to tape the edge of the soft top with parcel tape to keep the water out as we are scheduled for rain all this week. If all goes well I am ordering a hard top today or tomorrow though.

Not personally, I am sure someone will pipe up if they do...just keep it clean and don't abuse it and I think it will look after itself tbh.
