Firstly I should introduce myself to the forum, I am John and the proud new owner of Kieren B's Super Charged VX I'm just after a bit of help!! I was driving in slow traffic and the temperature was creeping up, it got to about 97 I think and then I decided to switch on the fan, when I tried to set off again the engine just died and wouldn't start again. It would fire once or twice then just die. I've now got it at the garage, initially I thought it could be the imobiliser but this morning they started it up fine, it ran for 30 mins and then cut out again (presumably when it got warm?) and would restart. Has anyone seen this before or does anyone have any ideas?? A couple of weeks ago I got P1032 on the ScanGuage which is the O2 sensor, but I reset it and everything was fine, I thought it could be something to do with the mapping?? I read Kieren's thread and a similar thing happened before, it turned out to be the fuel relay which was loose, checked this but it seems to be ok. Any ideas much appreciated!! Cheers John

Try replacing the relay altogether. I had one which was faulty and sometimes it worked, most time it didnt Where abouts you from? There is a little black circle thing on the chassis if you open the boot and look down bybthe expansion tank, make sure this is pressed in.

Thanks for all your replies! As far as I'm aware I don't have an EGR valve it has been fitted with Chris Tullet exhaust. LY_Scott The engine management light wasn't on when the problem first occured. I left the car at the garage and they said it briefly fired up yesterday afternoon, after it cut out he said there were 3 codes, Unfortunately he pressed the wrong button and cleared them before reading them all, one was P0107. Which is "Manifold Absolute Pressure/Barometric Pressure Circuit Low Input". It now doesn;t have any codes. The car did get wet on Monday but since then I drove it 40miles or so in the dry and it is kept in a garge over night. I was in very slow miving traffic on the motorway, so no bumps (not so big bumps)!! Goosenka, not sure about Temp Sensor but waiting for an AutoElectrician to have a look. Chris, I think its a good call to replace the relay, will look at getting one (cheap fix!!). I live in LS1, but work in Huddersfield so car is at garage in HD1. Cheers

Starting when cold but not when warm is usually a symptom of a knackered crank sensor.

Just to give an update, Went to see the car at lunch it started up first time but without going anywhere near the throttle it revs up and down constantly as though its searching for the correct fuel air balance?? By giving it enough throttle it eventually settled out for a period of time before it started again so switched off. Started again with same problem but this time throttle didn't work (who needs fly by wire!). It returned fault codes P0107 "Manifold Absolute Pressure/Barometric Pressure Circuit Low Input" and P1514 Airflow to TP Sensor Correlation High. Searched internet and the second is worrying as on another website with Z22SE it indicated crack inlet manifold :-( Hoping not so: Could this be an O2 sensor problem, or are these still symptoms of crank angle sensor (Thanks for offer Chris!). Any ideas?

check the blue and black plugs behind the coolant tank, also make sure the boot relays are dry and no obvious corrosion present might be worth replacing the brown and grey relays in the boot

Just so you know.. The idle going up and down is completely normal when starting it up. Doesnt really do it as much if at all when warm. Mine goes from 900 to 2.5k sometimes. Does it for about 10/15 seconds then idles at about 900.

Checked all 3 relays in the boot, look to be in good condition with not corrosion. But the yellow one does have a wire which looks to have come off the back of the plug (not sure what yellow relay is??). Tried putting the wire back on but no difference, should the wire be on or off?? Will ask the garage to check the blua and black plugs behind the coolant tank, what are they??
