Thanks, I appreciate your help. Not likely to need a hard top around here but very useful to know that too. Currently 29 degrees (84 fahrenheit). Likely to get a sun burnt head today.

While this is still being discussed. I noticed a VERY small chip, when I say small I mean I thought it was a speck of dirt when cleaning and only realised when I ran my nail over it and felt the chip.

It's about as close to the surround as possible. Expect it will need replacing, do I wait till I have my clam off (due a rad change in the next month or so) or get them out now before a cold spell cracks it further? Might look into possibilities of heated screen. Does anyone have a picture of one up close so you can see the heating lines in it? Not had one before so don't know if it will irritate me constantly being there.

No windscreen expert and may get shot down but tiny surface chips like you describe have never got any worse on cars I have had over the years and I have had a lot of older cars with loads of tiny chips that have never been a problem
If I look hard enough my vx has a few
Depends how fussy you are, but why not leave it and see how it goes if its not noticable .

Or we could all believe the windscreen adds

Hi, appreciate the helpful comments. Christchurch has seen through its tough times hopefully, I heard today that the building job market is up 80% there. May be time to bring your cars and emigrate, the southern roads are just begging to be tamed. As for the small chips in the windscreen you’re dead right I've had my fair share of older cars too but this time it’s more about vanity than purpose. This car seems to get a lot more attention wherever we venture more than other vehicles I've had so it’s probably about showing off rather than the physical damages. Although I guess that when the insurer is willing to unwittingly assist me who's to argue. I'll see what happens it may still be a mission to get a lotus screen here. It isn't always paradise, (yeah right!) Cheers.

Well it's survived this winter so far without chainging shape or size... I'd be inclined to say it's fine but thought as clam is off... How that outlook has cost me so much already!

Just plastidip it if you want a black surround. Chris, if you get auto glass in Edinburgh to do the work, they will book it into Murray's who will remove the clam for the screen to be replaced. Good if it's never been off before.

That's good to know, I'd feel a lot more comfortable with that scenario compared to Autoglass doing it themselves and making a mess of things. The clam bolts on mine have been replaced with stainless ones, so hopefully removal shouldn't be too much of an issue :)
