Well, I took the old girl back to croft for my second track day after breaking myself in with the quiet one last month. Something like 40 cars, atoms, radicals, tuned up GTRs, race cars and my old jalopy. Not sure if it was the amazing weather making people over confident or what but there were 5 red flags by 11.30am. Then the bloke next to us in a mint 340bhp VXR asked my mate (who knows croft well) if he would sit in the car and show him the lines. Lasted half a lap when he lost it span it and rolled it 720 degrees. Both came away with lacerated arms and bruises but if you could see the car you would count them lucky. Couple of laps later and a 600bhp GT2 race prepped with a carbon wing worth almost as much as my car chased one of the GTRs a bit too hard and planted it in the tyre wall. Plenty of other spins and damage. Mental day. Javelin organiser told me afterwards it was the worst day in 12yrs of organising them! Anyone experienced anything like this?

What I meant to say was it a VX220 or something that doesn't matter.

Sorry - Astra VXR. Real nice bloke, no ego, sensible fella who had lavished his car with thousands spent on it. Courtney's did the remap etc. no insurance, one gutted man.

But yeah I was the only VX220 and felt quite special amongst the dozens of caterhams, westfields etc.

Yeah he was ok physically but he was just in shock at what he'd done. Really apologetic to my mate (who was more peed off about having too many hand bandages to get back behind the wheel). Some arseholes out there today though.

That's why I have track insurance. You could be collected by something like this, through no fault of your own and even if they have insurance, it's 1st party only.

Surprised to hear this about a Javelin day I have done many and to be quite honest they dont even normally attract stuff like GT2's it usually more Loti/westy type stuff. certainly never seen a red flag and certainly not seen a crash. I believe it was a 105db day so probably attracted a different crowd.

No. Never been on any days with more than 1 proper crash and certainly never seen anyone rolling a car. Makes you think though and glad to have some insurance through my normal policy, just in case. Glad you kept your car in 1 piece!

Me and my car are fine (new engine required but new that when I bought it). Good to hear it sounds like an unusual day in terms of accidents. Couldn't cope with that again. Mental mix of drivers and cars. Think a few of them had just got their new high powered toy and didn't quite have the chops to control it.

Not necessarily. I've done more trackdays without cover than I've done with cover. I just make a call based on the individual track, my experience or lack of at that track, likely weather and to a lesser degree my experience of the clientèle likely to be there.

For example, other than a day at Bedford, I've never done a Focused Events day without some cover. :ninja:

Yet have done back to back trackdays at Le Mans with LoT and never bothered with cover apart from the first visit in 2010.
