Mmmm. I've seen a couple of amateur Web sites predicting a harsh winter. Not sure yet.

Supposedly the Beeb believe it is likely, as the position and shape of the jet stream is 'ripe'.Mmmm. I've seen a couple of amateur Web sites predicting a harsh winter. Not sure yet.

I think it will be a 'late' winter but a proper bastard cold one. Although to be fair, it was only a couple of years ago that it was -12 for a few days on the trot.

Killed a lot of wild life that year, found a few dead Young Herons while out waking near me and also killed some bushes and plant in my garden that had survived winters for years. Could do without that,I think it will be a 'late' winter but a proper bastard cold one. Although to be fair, it was only a couple of years ago that it was -12 for a few days on the trot.

Your gut is likely to be more accurate than the BBC forecast. Just make sure you're stocked up on bread, milk and suncream...My gut instinct is a proper cold snap around 9th December with a decent wedge of snow, clears within about a week, ready for a cold and bright Christmas period. Heavy snow at New Year and prolonged cold / snowy periods conditions until 13th March. Then we will have a 5 day heat wave.

A couple of flakes here in Birmingham this morning, nothing serious though and not enough to settle.
