As an idiots guide. How much roughly would it cost to retrofit? its never bothered me not having it befor but if its reasonable I may be tempted.

Roughly £20-£30 if you add connectors, cut off switch and a bit of cable.

EDIT: It will cost more if you wish to add OEM steering column switch and door pins

Most of the c/l kits I have seen don't appear to have the boots that protect the wiring between the door and the car, any idea what these are called?

No kits don't, I used some grommets in the holes and some corrigated wire sleeve (not sure what it is called) we had it in our parts department, here is a photo:

How did you go about drilling the holes, did the doors need to come off?

No need to take the doors off, just use a drill, it is fibre glass so real easy. Just make a small hole then gradually make it bigger

EDIT: with the gomment I cut the lip of the side to can't see off as the fibre glass is thicker than the gomment and just secured it with a little bit of sikaflex, 3 years later still in place.

http://www.vx220.org...60#entry1459022 Apologies for the delays - I'm the culprit & it means I no longer need the kit. Not sure who's next on Ken's list...
