Chris I think I hate you :P I kept away from iRacing for years because of the way they try to extract money from you. This thread prompted me to give it a shot on the reduced rate membership, I love it but I hate it lol. The way it works bugs the sh*t outta me but it's a good sim, a few glitches but nothing too major, drives nice etc. I hate the SR and limited tracks etc, it's meant to be a racing sim not a racing career sim, and having to pay to host a race with mates? Is there a way round this? Actually this thread prompted me to visit race sim central where I ended up looking at iRacing.

Not really no. The more you play iracing the more you notice the flaws in the physics engine, the faster cars you choose the more apparent they are. Seriously, i know i keep saying it but if you want a good physics racing game with your mates, live for speed is where its at. There is nothing that offers what lfs does in terms of propper bumper to bumper racing. Iracing looks prettier tho.

I used to play it quite a bit but I kinda like the real tracks and cars. As you say the racing was great though. Was a real challenge to get the old LX8 round the track before they nerfed it. The little MT thing was fun as it was all about driving perfectly not keeping the power in check.

A lot of people mention there are no real tracks on lfs, obviously i cant agrue because there arnt but ive never been bothered because i was more bothered about actually racing. What ever car, what ever track i just wasnt bothered. It was all about the raw racing for me.

Yeah it was fun for a while but I missed the real tracks more than anything, cars not so much. But have to say after S2 I only ever drove the MT5 is it? I started with it from the beginning but thought it lost it's way a bit, pandering to the whims of people who thought NFS was a sim. Ended up with just 3 of us racing each other privately. Might go dig it out again because I too think the actual physics were and still are the best I have felt. With some of the new stuff coming I'm thinking of getting back into sim racing in general, hope to resist buying a Fanatec wheel and pedals if I do, although it's very tempting now my old wingman ff red is dead and I'm on a cheapo Driving force GT and not even the new model. Could prob sell my BRD Speed7 pedals to finance a new wheel though.

Join cargame.nl s2. You start with a low tier car but you have to race to get points, then you can choose better cars. A slog to start with but very good clean drivers on there. :)

I will join a server with you, or even host one we can join. There are a couple on here who have lfs.

Just had a quick blast on good old Blackwood with the MRT (I was nearly right). You forget just how much better the physics are than all the other sims. Does seem a little more polished than it was last time I played, must have been 2005/6.
