I've just sent off for a quote to Dave the Trimmer, but has anyone got any other recommendations of places to go? I'm just outside Birmingham, but willing to travel a bit to get a good job at a decent price. I need dash+binnacle, door pads, door cards and possibly the centre console.

Not seen any other recommendations other than Dave The Trimmer. James.a got DtT to do almost identical parts to those you're planning and the result is outstanding. I'm sure he'll send you some pics.

For dash, binnacle, door triangles, door cards, door corners and hand brake/gear stick trim was about £320. That's with white stitching on all and a red material on everything but the dash and binnacle. Well worth it and I'd just post it to save fuel.

I've also seen DTT's work on James a's car and it looks superb and very reasonably priced I believe.

I'd pay that hark. The quality of his work and value for money is excellent. Not only that, but he is a thoroughly decent bloke and in my world that counts for a lot.

Very kind of you to offer mate. ^^ :P

As for materials, same as James to be honest. I actually sent some of those photos in when asking for my quote.

Alcantara and light grey stitching to match the probax seats.

That's just labour and materials, postage or my diesel is extra.

A chap on SELOC has recommended somewhere 30 mins away, so will also get quotes from them. Will finish stripping interior tomorrow, almost there.

While on the subject.

Can the centre console be removed without removing the seats? (Both my seats are out at the moment so difficult to judge.)

Secondly has anyone ever purchased one of these?

His work is excellent... I did get tempted to buy some alcantara when I had my VX and have a go myself, bought a dash top and then realised I needed to sell the VX to cover the outstanding wedding costs. Not sure I would have remotely been able to match his stamdards, but think the alcantara could have been a good material to machine.

Would be interested to know if you find out a good trimmer locally - I *think* I may have spotted you yesterday travelling along the A449 at about half 4? It was about an hour after we'd put ours away for the night . Also - I've not had one of the centre consoles, but did see a thread saying that the quality of the door covers they do is pretty good, but the leather used doesn't match the leather on the original seats. I'm expecting a sample of leather from them anytime now so I can see the difference in the grain :).

Yes, but not fitted yet. Quality looks good but can't comment on the fit yet.

Let me know when you have mate, I'm interested in knowing how it fits. Easy to fit as well, centre console was the easiest trim of the lot to remove.

on a similar subject, has anyone trimmed / lined a (JB) hard top? the guy who sprayed mine suggested lining it in alcantara - wondered if anyone had done it and had an opinion?
